INDIAN POW WOW OR HOLY EVENT TO BE HELD IN RICH HILL


A PUBLIC POW-WOW WILL BE HELD IN RICH HILL IN FEBRUARY. CHIEF WHITEHORN OF THE MISSOURI OSAGE TRIBES OF MISSOURI WILL BE IN RICH HILL AS TRIBES GATHER IN THIS LOCATION FOR A SACRED CIRCLE KNOWN AS A “ HOLY EVENT”. THE POW-WOW WILL BE HELD FEBRUARY 15TH 16TH AND 17TH
INDIANS FROM THE STATE OF MISSOURI, KANSAS, OKLAHOMA, MONTANA AND CANADA WILL GATHER FOR THE 3 DAY EVENT TO CELEBRATE A HOMECOMING AND REUNION OF THE TRIBES IN OUR 4 STATE AREA MOSTLY KNOWN AS INDIANS FROM THE OSAGE  TRIBE AND MISSOURIAH OSAGE TRIBES.
CHIEF WHITEHORN TOLD FM-92 THAT MANY OF THEIR ANSCESTORS ARE BURRIED AT BLUE MOUND AND MANY OF TRIBAL INDIAN CHILDREN ATTENDED THE HARMONY MISSION SCHOOL.
THIS HOLY TRIBAL EVENT WILL TAKE PLACE ON FEGRUARY 15TH 16TH AND 17TH AT THE RICH HILL OLD HIGH SCHOOL GYM THE COST IS 5 DOLLARS PER PERSON.
THERE WILL BE A SCHEDULE OF EVENTS POSTED AND ANNOUNCED AT A LATER DATE, BUT AS OF TODAY THERE WILL BE INDIAN FOOD VENDORS ON LOCATIONS AND RELICS ON LOCATIONS.
ALL ATTENDING WILL BE IN FULL INDIAN COSTUME WITH THE GRAND ENTRY AT 7 PM.  A SCHEDULE OF TRIBAL SONGS, THE ROUND DANCE, THE TINY TOT DANCE COMPETITION, AND THE BLANKET DANCE AMONG  OTHER ATTRACTIONS. 
IT IS IMPORTANT FOR MEMBERS AND OTHERS TO LEARN SOMETHING ABOUT  THIS VERY HONORABLE HERITAGE AND HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO LIVE BY TRIBAL WAYS CONCERNING HONOR AND THE MERIT SYSTEM.
AT THIS TIME, THE TRIBES  ARE IN NEED OF ANYONE WHO WOULD BE WILLING TO ALLOW SOME OF THE HEAD SINGERS AND DANCERS THAT WILL BE ATTENDING THE CEREMONY  TO STAY IN AN EXTRA ROOM YOU MIGHT HAVE AVAILABLE DURING THEIR VISIT TO RICH HILL AREA.
 THE MISSOURIAH  OSAGE TRIBE HAS ALREADY RENTED FULL CAPACITY  AT THE RICH HILL MOTEL BUT NEED SLEEPING ACCOMODATIONS FOR MORE PEOPLE. THEY HAVE TALKED TO THE LARGER MOTELS BUT CANNOT AFFORD THE PRICES. THEY WOULD ONLY NEED A BED AND SHOWER FOR THEM TO USE. ALL OF THEIR MEALS ARE BEING TAKEN CARE OF. THEY WOULD BE SO GRATEFUL IF ANYONE WOULD BE WILLING TO OPEN THEIR HOMES TO THEM.

Obituary - J. B. Joseph Benno Kunkel


  Visitation memorial services for Joseph Benno "J. B." Kunkel of Butler, Missouri, will be January 25-26, 2013 at the Missouri Dairymen Association Convention in Springfield, Missouri. Contributions may be made to the American Jersey Cattle Club Youth Program. Arrangements under the direction of the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri.


  Joseph Benno Kunkel, age 76 of Butler, Missouri, died Friday, January 18, 2013 at Medicalodge Nursing Home in Butler. He was born March 16, 1936 to Albert Adrian and Julianna Belbina Oldelehr Kunkel in Verona, Missouri.


  J.B is survived by his wife Nancy Kunkel of Butler, Missouri; two daughters, Kelli Quade and husband Jeff of Carthage, Missouri and Ann Heidemann and husband Craig of Springfield, Missouri; a brother, Edward Kunkel of Springfield, Missouri; a sister, Delores Woods of Bixby, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Abbu, Eva and Cole. He is further survived by Nancy's son, Scott Hjetland and wife Anne and their children Cooper and Rozalin of Lyons, Kansas and a daughter, Heather Hjetland-Hughes and husband George of Lawrence, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Reverend Raymond Kunkel.

TURN YOUR DIAL TO OUR SISTER STATION AM-1530 SO YOU DON’T MISS A THING. WE ARE UNSURE THE EXACT TIME… BUT THE DJ ON DUTY WILL MAKE THE ANNOUNCEMENT PRIOR TO SHUTTING OFF THE TRANSMITTER FOR THE REPAIRS.
