Obituary - Georgia Mae Foote

Georgia Mae (Wilburn) Foote, 84, Archie, Missouri, died Monday, June 24, 2013 at Adrian Manor Nursing Home in Adrian, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Archie with burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian. Visitation 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

UPDATE: Creighton Man Recieves Moderate Injuries in Early Morning Crash

Around 7am This morning Bates County Sheriff along with Bates County EMS and Bates County Sheriff responed to a 1 vehicle accident on County Road 2001 off of AA Highway North of Adrian. The accident occured when the 2008 Dodge 3500 pickup driven by Logan E. Heaper 18, Of Creighton Missouri was traveling Southbound drove off the right side of the roadway, Struck a bridge railing and a concrete retaining wall coming to rest in a ditch. Mr. Heaper was wearing a seatbelt and was transported to Bates County Memorial Hospital by ambulance. The truck was towed by Adrian Tow.

Fireworks for sale in Adrian / Harrisonville / Butler/ Amoret

Adrian/ The Adrian Lions Club will be selling Fireworks  in Adrian. The stand will be located in the old Napa building. Register to win a 6 foot tall big bang assortment drawing to be held on July 4th at 2 pm. The stand will be open from June  27th through July 4th, 8 am to 10 pm. The old Napa building is next door to the Citizen’s Bank in Adrian.
* Harrisonville / Fireworks may also be found in Harrisonville at Duke’s Fireworks. This stand is located in the parking lot of Mill Wall Mall off 149 in Harrisonville.
 *Butler / Jake’s Fireworks stand will be open in Butler at the Dollar Store parking Lot.

Dr. Curtis Long Returns to Chestnut Street Clinic opens July 1st

Congratulations  to Doctor Curtis Long as he returns to his private practice at 200 West Chestnut Street in Butler . Dr. Long, along with Barbara Atkinson, family nurse practitioner will open the clinic on July 1st of 2013. Their new phone at the practice will be 660-679-3149. The office of Doctor Long will provide  full lab and radiology services at the clinic. The office hours will be from 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. The clinic will provide “ healthcare for all branches of your family tree”.

Obituary - Charles "Chuck" Cole

Funeral services for Chuck Cole will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2013 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Scott Cemetery, Amsterdam, Missouri. Contributions to Heartland Hospice or Passaic United Methodist Church.

Charles Andrew “Chuck” Cole, age 70 of Passaic, Missouri, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at his home in Passaic. He was born June 20, 1943 to Gaylord Marion and Geneva May Graves Cole in Paola, Kansas.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Linda Cole of Passaic, Missouri; two sons, Michael Cole and wife Bo and Ashley Cole, all of Passaic, Missouri; one daughter, Angelia Cumpton of Passaic, Missouri; three sisters, Georgia Hoskins and husband Ron of Independence, Missouri, Linda Blaser of Butler, Missouri and Carolyn Kendrick and husband Terry of Adrian, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Cori and Jami Cole, Andrew and Eva Cumpton and Sarah, Caitlin and Della Cole; five stepgrandchildren, Arron, Jeremy, Zach, Becky and Delaney; and eleven step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Robert, Donald “Butch” and Ronald; and two sisters, Minnie Mae and Shirley.

Max Motors In Butler Revealed "Big Max" Last Night

After a lot of buzz around the town Max Motors in Butler let the cat out of the bag so to speak last night. The new mascot statue of the dealership was revealed last night. "Big Max" came to Butler from a  Sparta, Wisconsin he is 28 ft tall and is on a 15 ft tall platform. Big Max is primarily made out of fiberglass and is 42.5 ft all around. A good word for it would be head turner. In the unveiling ceremony last night there was a beautiful National Anthem along with Mancow Muller and a short fireworks show all courtesy of Max Motors. Wheather you like it or not one thing is for sure Big Max isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Obituary - Dorothy "Jeannie" Brooks

 Dorothy "Jeannie" Brooks 70, Of Hume Missouri passed away Monday at St. Luke's Hospital-East in Lee's Summit, Mo. Arrangements are under direction of Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada Missouri. We will update this when we recieve more information.

     The community of Hume wishes to extend their sympathy to the family of Naoma Morrison who passed away on June 22.  Affectionately known as “Grandma Cookie” to kids young and old, she always had a smile and would ask about you or your family.  She will be greatly missed by family and fiends.

     Isaac Irwin celebrated his birthday on Friday, June 21 with a swim party, spaghetti, S’mores, cake and ice cream.  He turned 5 years old on June 20, Happy Birthday, Isaac!

     The Hume United Methodist Church held a dinner on Sunday, June 23 for Pastor Bob Simon as it was his last Sunday.  Our prayers go out to Pastor Simon and his family who lost their 22 year old granddaughter the previous Friday evening in Arkansas. 

      Associate Pastor Eric England will become the regular Pastor.  Bible School is being planned for a date in August.

       All the area churches invite you to worship with them if you do not have a home Church.
