Flood Warning For Northeastern Bates County


Flood Warning issued for the South Grand River area around  Urich, Missouri. This warning will affect the Northeastern parts of Bates County. Bates County Live will update all watches and warnings. Do not drive through running water, turn around don't drown.

Weather Update: Rain Showers Continue


Rain showers will continue to lift slightly north/northwest around a low pressure system that's currently in south central Kansas. The heaviest rain band is moving a bit to the north in our area, but highest rain totals should still focus along and south of I-70 today and tonight.

Obituary - Patricia Wilson


Patricia Wilson, 68, Harrisonville, Missouri, died Monday, June 9, 2014 at her home. Funeral services are pending at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville.

Obituary - Wayne A. Bentlage


Wayne A. Bentlage, 53, Greenwood, Missouri, died Thursday, June 5 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 12 at the Lee’s Summit United Methodist Church in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. The family will receive friends after the service. Private burial. 2014 Highways, Hogs, and Hillbillies Poker Run




Bates County folks can sign up in Butler at 9AM. If you live in Henry county or closer to Clinton, our first stop, you can sign up at Clinton at 10AM. 

The Ride starts at 10AM at the Bates County Court house on June 14th,2014 $25 per vehicle / $10 per additional rider. The ride will start at 11am in Clinton.

All proceeds of this event will go the 27th Circuit Court Adult Recovery Court Program.
Clinton riders will receive there first card at sign up. Free T-shirts are free for riders and our available for purchase as well.

West Central Warriors Playoff Game June 14th

The West Central Warriors went to Topeka to play the Thunder on Saturday June 7th and couldn't pull off a win. They are now 8-2. The next game is Saturday June 14th @ 6 pm against the Topeka Thunder again. This is a playoff game and we need all of the support we can get from our fans. Come out and enjoy a hard hitting-fast paced game. The field is located behind the Butler swimming pool. See you there!!!

Bates County Youth Advocacy Council: Day Camp

The Bates County Youth Advocacy Council is holding it's annual Day Camp for youth in Bates County on Saturday, June 14th. The FREE event will be held at the Butler City Park and starts at 8:30am and ends at 2pm. Breakfast will be served at 8:30am, followed by swimming at the pool from 9am-11am, lunch served from 11am-12pm, followed by park activities. Children 1st-6th grade are invited to attend. To participate, you MUST return the Activity Acceptance Form and the Notarized Health Form to either the Bates County Juvenile Office or the Bates County Children’s Division by June 6, 2014. Forms are available for pick-up at both locations. Registration is limited to 45 children.

Shoplifting Call Leads To Drug Arrest In Butler


The Butler Police Department responded to Walmart this morning on a report of a man seen shoplifting by Walmart Security. The suspect was arrested in the store and upon being searched, it was found he was carrying drugs. The officers then went outside and found two people passed out in the suspects vehicle.

Police then received consent to search the vehicle where additional drugs were recovered, resulting in the two subjects being taken into custody as well as the man shoplifting. Bates County Live will update this story when more information becomes available.

Bates County Cattlemen Meeting‏

The June meeting of the Bates County Cattlemen will be Tuesday the 10 th. at 7:00 PM  at the South Side Cafe in Butler, Mo. Guest speaker will be Mike Finley, County Executive Director FSA, topic will be "Livestock Indemnity Program". Bring a prospective member,friend or neighbor.

Weather Update: The Week Ahead


Storms moving across Kansas early this morning will likely result in more rain for Missouri today, though much of it will be focused across areas along and south of the Missouri River during the late morning to afternoon hours. There is a chance that some of the stormy activity will persist into Tuesday, with another fleeting chance at showers Thursday. But, for the most part expect a pleasant, and predominantly dry, work week.

Butler Youth Football Sign Ups


Butler Youth Football is having sign-ups Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday nights 6-9pm at the east baseball diamond concession stand in Butler.  Sign-ups will run through the month of June and may be filled out in person or by filling out the attached form and mailing it in (instructions on form) or dropping it off at Community First Bank.  Completed forms and payment are due to Butler Youth Football not later than July 3, 2014 .
