Weather Update: Rain Chances Tomorrow

Pretty large area of thunderstorms putting on a nice lightning display from south central Nebraska through central Kansas this evening. These storms are heading east-southeast but are likely to weaken considerably as they reach the MO/KS state line. Current speed, give or take 1-2 hours places showers and storms in the St. Joe area around 6 am, in the KC Metro 6-9 am. Won't try to time them too much past these areas as there is a good chance the rain won't advance much further east than this

Harrisonville Man Dies In Head On Crash On Missouri 2 Highway

Around 2:30 p.m. This Afternoon the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a 2 vehicle head on crash on East Bound 2 Highway just West of 263rd Street in rural Cass County.

The Accident occurred when the 2004 Honda driven by 21 year old James T. Sutton of Harrisonville, Missouri was Eastbound on Missouri 2 Highway when he attempted to pass a slower vehicle and struck a Westbound 2006 Suzuki driven by Wendy R. Fergus 70 years old of Linn Valley, Kansas head on.

James T. Sutton was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, A passenger in the 2006 Suzuki Dorial G. Fergus 72 also of Linn Valley, Kansas received Moderate injuries and was transported to Overland Park Regional Medical center by EMS.

Wendy R. Fergus received Serious injuries in this accident and was also transported to Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Both of the vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene by Johnson Tow of Harrisonville.

This is Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's 49th Fatality death in 2014.

Hay On fire in Passaic

The Butler Fire Department along with The Adrian Fire Department is responding to a report of a pile of hay bales on fire in Passaic. 

The exact location of this is in the feedlot of MoKan Sale Barn. Bates County Live will update this when more information becomes available.

Obituary - Patricia Diane Gilbert

Patricia Diane Gilbert, 50, of Drexel, Mo died Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at her home. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Cleveland, Mo. A complete obituary will be posted when it becomes available.

REMINDER: Butler Bears Pancake Scrimmage Today

The Butler Bears Pancake scrimmage will be TODAY August 9th at the Deaton Thomas Field (old football field) at 8:00 A.M. Everyone is welcome to come out and join us for some football and pancakes. 
The Coaches will be introducing our fall football boys, volleyball girls and cheerleaders. Cheerleaders will also have baked goods for sale.

Adrian Community Library closed August 11-15

The Adrian Community Library will be closed August 11-15, 2014 for computer updates.  The Library will reopen on Monday, August 18th.  Thank you to everyone who visits the Adrian Library.  The Librarians will look forward to seeing everyone when the library reopens soon.

UPDATE: Early Morning Fire Alarm In Butler

Around 5:20am This morning The Butler Police Department and Butler Fire Department responded to  fire alarm at Maple Senior Living located at 300 South Delaware Street in Butler. Upon investigation from The Butler Fire Department no fire was found and all the residents was allowed back into the facility.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Arrest Report 8/8/14

  • On 8/8/14 around 11:45p.m. The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested 36 year old Jeremiah W. Johnson of Rockville, Missouri. Mr. Johnson was arrested on 1.) Driving while intoxicated 2.) Fail to dim headlights. He was booked into the Bates County Jail and later released.

  • On 8/8/14 around 1:40a.m. The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested 29 Year old Apryl D. Murray of Archie, Missouri. She was arrested on 1.) Driving while intoxicated. She was booked into the Bates County Jail and placed on a 12 hour detox hold.

Fire Alarm In Butler

The Butler Police Department along with The Butler Fire Department is on scene of a fire alarm at 300 South Delaware Street here in Butler. The exact location of this fire alarm is Maple Senior Living Facility. No smoke or flames has been found at the time but all residents has been removed from the facility. Bates County Live will update this when more information becomes available.
