Longtime Bates County Memorial Hospital employee retires after 45 years

After 45 years of combined service to Bates County Memorial Hospital, Judy Taylor was honored with a gift from the hospital in recognition of her retirement on November 3, 2015.

Judy began her employment in February, 1969 as a Transcription Clerk in the Medical Records Department, where she worked until January, 1976. In March, 1977, Judy came back to work at the hospital as a Utilization Review Clerk for the Nursing Department, where she has continued to work until her retirement.

Judy has seen tremendous changes in healthcare, health insurance, and technology throughout her years of service. Judy’s dedication and loyalty to the hospital will be greatly missed.

Judy plans to enjoy her “free” time with her family and friends, and perhaps some volunteer work in the future. Judy, and her husband, Tom, live in Butler.

Obituary - Jean Chapman

Jean Chapman, 87, Adrian, Missouri, died Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Adrian Manor in Adrian, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian with visitation from 1:00-2:00. Burial will be in Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian.

Obituary - Dolores Laverne Grant

Dolores Laverne Grant, 84, Nevada, MO passed from this life on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Nevada Nursing and Rehab in Nevada. Dolores was born on June 7, 1931 in Chicago, IL. She was united in marriage to Albert R. Grant and he preceded her in death on December 16, 1981.

Dolores grew up in Chicago and for a time was a member of the Chicago Thunderbird Roller Derby Team. In 1977 she came to Nevada and has resided here since that time. Dolores began working for the Nevada R-5 Schools as a bus driver and continued to drive for 20 years until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her dog and watching birds.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Interment will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery, Milo, MO. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home.
