Obituary - Vicky Lynn Frey

Vicky Lynn Frey
Vicky Lynn Frey, age 51 of Freeman, MO, passed away September 14, 2016 after her battle with cancer.

Vicky was born September 13, 1965 in Raytown, MO.

Vicky is survived by her life partner Mark Burdick of Freeman, MO; her daughter Stacey Douty and grandson DJ of Butler, MO, her brother Luke Breshears and her sister Lisa Breshears.

The family wishes donations be given in Vicky's memory to Kansas City Hospice House for the wonderful care Julie and Annie provided or to her grandson, DJ and may be sent to the Citizens Bank, 19 S Orange St Butler Mo 64730. Vicky will be missed but not forgotten

Stockton man arrested in Vernon County

On 9/18/16 around 3:02pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Vernon County arrested 19 year old Lee G. Queen of Stockton, Missouri.

Mr. Queen was arrested for 1.) Misdemeanor Eldorado Springs Police Department Warrant - FTA ASSAULT 2.) Driving while revoked 3.) Speed 4.) Passed Vehicle on Shoulder 5.) No seatbelt.

He was booked into the Vernon County Jail and is currently listed as bondable.

Body Identified name pending release in Cass County Death Investigation

The Cass County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the death of a person located near I-49 earlier this morning. 

At this time the victim is being identified as a white female in her early twenties. 

Detectives do not believe that this victim it is related to any other ongoing investigations in the metro area. 

The Cass County Sheriff's Office will be working with the Jackson County Medical Examiner's Office to determine the exact cause of death and a positive identification.

Death Investigation in Cass County

Cass Co. – The Cass County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating a death near I-49 and Peculiar Drive, approximately 2 miles north of Harrisonville.

Passerby discovered a body in the ditch between the southbound lanes of I-49 and Peculiar Drive around 11:30 a.m. this morning.

No further information is available at this time. Investigators are still on scene. One lane of southbound I-49 has been closed during the investigation.

Police searching for two escaped inmates in Southern Missouri

Two inmates escaped from the Pulaski County Jail at approximately 1:15 AM this morning.

The jail-break occurred after both inmates had requested a medical check, during which time they stole the jailer’s keys and fled the facility.

The jailer was not injured during the incident. All law enforcement agencies within Pulaski County, along with the Missouri State Highway Patrol and surrounding Sheriff Departments, are assisting in the search.

The first escapee is identified as James Randall (J.R) Sherrell, 32, a white male, 5’6, 120 lbs. Sherrell has short brown hair and green eyes, with multiple tattoos about his body. This inmate was in custody for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Interfering with a Felony Arrest. Sherrell is a career offender and should be considered dangerous.

The second escapee is Dustin Richardson, 27, a white male, 5’11, 180 pounds. Richardson has short brown hair and brown eyes, with multiple tattoos about his body. This inmate was in custody for Child Molestation, 1st Degree, and has another outstanding warrant out of Camdenton County for Molesting a Minor. Richardson is also a career offender and should be considered dangerous.

Obituary - Audrey Lois (Tohtz) Kennedy

Audrey Lois (Tohtz) Kennedy, Marion, Kentucky and formerly Nevada, Mo., passed away Monday, September 5. The widow of former judge Don Kennedy was 90. 

Funeral arrangements were under direction of the Myers Funeral Home, Marion, Kentucky, and services were held Friday, September 16, at the Marion, Kentucky Baptist Church. 

Memorials either to the First Baptist Church in Nevada, the Praying Life Foundation or Nevada High School's Kennedy Tribute Scholarship are suggested.

Donald L. Horn, 87, of Harrisonville, Missouri died Friday, September 16, 2016 at Golden Years in Harrisonville. Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. 

The family will receive friends Wednesday 12:00-1:00pm at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Burial, with military honors, will be at Mt. Washington Cemetery, Independence, Missouri.
