Attempt to locate vehicle that crashed into gas station in Garden City

The Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Cass County Sheriffs Deputies and Garden City Police Department are attempting to locate a black in color 2008 Cadillac that struck the Dominator/Phillips 66 building located at 29505 Old Hwy 7, Garden City, Missouri and then fled the scene of the accident.

The license plates on the vehicle checked backed to a unknown male subject that has a Harrisonville address.

The vehicle will have damage to the front of it and no injuries were reported in this accident.

Kansas City man arrested in Bates County

On 11/26/16 around 4:50pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 36 year old Justin D. Woods of Kansas City, Missouri.

Mr. Woods was arrested for 1.) 3 Cass County Sheriffs Office Warrants 2.) Misdemeanor Possession of up to 35 grams of Marijuana 3.) Driving while suspended 4.) Registration violation.

He was booked into the Bates County Jail and he is currently listed as bondable.

Obituary - Harold Dean Brewer

Harold Dean Brewer, 87, formerly of Metz, MO, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2016 at Barone Alzheimer’s Care Center in Nevada following a brief illness. Harold was born on August 3, 1929 in Deerfield, MO the only child of Roy L. Brewer and Iva (Hyder) Brewer. He married June Ann Handly on December 21, 1951 in Harrison, AR and she preceded him in death on August 24, 2014.

Harold was raised in the Metz, MO area and graduated from Metz High School Class of . He served two years in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. In 1952 he came home to Vernon County to farm and raise livestock. He was a member of the Horton Methodist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Teresa Ann Brewer, Nevada; several nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Rosalie Handly.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 in Balltown Cemetery, Horton, MO, with Lawrence Cripps officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

Those who wish may contribute in Harold’s memory to the Horton United Methodist Church in care of Ferry Funeral Home.

Obituary - Isaac Junior Jeffries

Isaac Junior Jeffries
Isaac Junior Jeffries, 88, Springdale, AR, formerly of Nevada, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2016 at Earlene Howard Hospice Home in Springdale. He was born on March 7, 1928 in Nevada to Isaac Francis Jeffries and Elsie Mildred (Smith) Jeffries. He married Dolores E. Ennis and she survives of the home.

Isaac was raised in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School Class of 1945. He served two years in the U. S. Navy on the Island of Saipan after which he returned to Nevada for a time. He then moved to Kansas City, KS where he worked for Midwest Conveyer for 42 years until his retirement. He has lived in Springdale for the past 25 years. Isaac was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lowell, AR.

Survivors include his wife Dolores; one son, Terry Jeffries and his wife Freddie, Springdale; 4 stepchildren; 9 grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Cleotta (James), infant daughter, Diana; and 2 sisters and 1 brother.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, November 28, 2016, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada with Pastor Johnny Harp officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada.

Drexel man injured in two vehicle Cass County accident

On 11/26/16 around 11:15am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County responded to a two vehicle accident on Route A at Nelson Road in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2002 Nissan Altima driven Driven by 28 year old Stanton G. Miller of Drexel, Missouri attempted to pass and struck the 1998 GMC truck driven by 56 year old Timothy G. Hill of Drexel, Missouri as it was making a left hand turn. The Nissan then traveled off the roadway and overturned.

Mr. Miller sustained moderate injuries in this accident and he was transported by Harrisonville EMS to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

Both vehicle sustained extensive damages and both were towed from the scene.

The Raytown Police Department has issued an Endangered SILVER Advisory for a missing adult incident that occurred at 10409 E 69th St., Raytown, Missouri at 8:00 PM on November 24, 2016.

The endangered SILVER advisory missing adult is:

Cenola Dale, a black, female, age 83, 5 foot, 161 lbs, brown hair, brown eyes, wearing black leather jacket, unknown color skirt, plaid scarf, and black shoes. 

Diagnosed Medical Condition(s):  diagnosed with bipolar and schizophrenia

Brief circumstances regarding the Endangered Silver Person incident 


Cenola Dale was last seen on foot in front of 10409 E 69th St. in Raytown, MO.  Subject is in need of medication that she does not have with her.              


Anyone seeing the missing person, suspect, associate, or vehicle, or anyone having any information related to the endangered missing person should immediately dial 911 to contact the nearest law enforcement agency or call the Raytown Police Department at 816-286-4893.

Paul Lee Swann, age 89 of Butler, Missouri, went to his eternal rest November 3, 2016 at John Knox Village Care Center in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. He was born October 7, 1927 to Carl Lee and Evelyn Cleo Anglen Swann in Nevada, Missouri.

Paul is survived by his wife Joan; his sons Craig and wife Carolyn and Rick and wife Kim; daughter Paula Mackey and husband Tim; two step-sons, one step-daughter and families; sister Clara Shaull and husband Scott; one grandson, four granddaughters, four great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Ernest and Billy, and two sisters Maxine and Yvonne.

Grandview woman arrested in Bates County

On 11/25/16 around 10:10pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 37 year old Alba I. Jenkins of Grandview, Missouri.

She was arrested for 1.) 7 misdemeanor Grandview Police Department Warrants.

Alba I. Jenkins was booked into the Bates County Jail and she is currently listed as bondable.

Butler woman arrested on warrants

Stacey Lynn Mitchell
On 11/26/16 around 3:18am the Butler Police Department arrested 43 year old Stacey Lynn Mitchell of Butler, Missouri.

She was arrested for 1.) Misdemeanor warrant for Obstructing of a Police Officer 2.)Misdemeanor drivers license violation.

Stacey Lynn Mitchell was booked into the Bates County Jail and placed on a $750 Cash/Surety bond on the Obstructing Charge and $20 Cash only on the Drivers License Violation.
