Does anyone recognize these two men/their tattoos? They stole a plate compactor out of the bed of a work truck early Sunday morning. There are photos of them attached.

Heat and Storms on Wednesday


The heat and humidity will continue one more day into tomorrow with a heat advisory in effect from noon until 8pm, mainly south of the Missouri River as cloud coverage and morning storms may help cool off northern Missouri. 

A cold front will move down from the north Wednesday evening providing a chance for scattered strong to severe storms to develop. 

The main threat for severe weather will be north of the Missouri River with damaging winds, heavy rain, and localized flooding being the main threats. 

Cooler air will build into the area after this boundary passes through with highs in the lower to mid 80s expected through the weekend!







Police Chase in Bates County

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is attempting to locate a black in color early 2000 model Ford Mustang with a Missouri license plate number of DN6-H8L that fled from them at this time in the area of 52 East and I-49. 

The vehicle was registered to a female from Rich Hill and the speeds were around 113 mphs before the trooper lost sight of the vehicle.

UPDATE: Nixa man arrested in Vernon County after vehicle pursuit

A Nixa resident is in custody after running from Sheriff’s Deputies early Tuesday afternoon. According to Sheriff’s Office Officials, Deputies attempted to make a traffic stop on a wanted fugitive in Nevada when the driver failed to stop. 

Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher said multiple deputies as well as the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the pursuit that headed north of Nevada. “The driver did not appear to know where he was going and at one point even turned down a dead-end road before driving through a yard to get back onto a road.” The sheriff said troopers and deputies had several intersections blocked off with spike strips, but the vehicle lost control and went into a ditch before reaching the road block. 

The suspect has been identified as 26-year-old Jacob T Rawlings of Nixa Mo. Sheriff Mosher said Rawlings was wanted on two no-bond felony probation violation warrants. The Sheriff said additional charges may be filed once the investigation is complete.


Adrian man arrested for driving while revoked

On 7/25/17 around 4:00pm the Adrian Police Department arrested 49 year old Matthew W. Knipp of Adrian, Missouri.

Mr. Knipp was arrested for 1.) Driving While Suspended/ Revoked ( Habitual Offender).

He was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and is currently bondable.





Obituary - Dennis Phillips

Dennis Phillips, 59 of Welda, Kansas passed away July 25, 2017 at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri. Cremation, with private family services to be held at a later date.

Dennis Dean Phillips was born May 2, 1958 in Baxter Springs, Kansas to Elmer and Mary Robinson Phillips. His father preceded him in death. 

Dennis is survived by his mother Mary Phillips of Nevada, Missouri and brother Dana Phillips of Welda, Kansas.

Heat advisory has been issued today through 8PM for heat index values between 102-106 degrees. Another hot one expected tomorrow especially south of the Missouri River where storms (and clouds) won't arrive until later in the day. Severe storms may be possible tomorrow afternoon and evening with damaging winds the main threat.

Butler man arrested on 6 active warrants in Bates County

Charles D. Westmoreland Jr. 
On July 23rd a Sergeant conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on County Road 365. The driver of the vehicle, Charles Westmoreland (DOB 10/3/1983), had 6 active warrants. 

Mr. Westmoreland advised the Sergeant that there was a pistol in the vehicle but it was not his. The Sergeant searched the vehicle and located the handgun as well as a container than held a white crystal substance. He also located a pipe that had white residue in it. Both field tested positive for methamphetamines. 

Westmoreland was transported to the Bates County Jail. A female passenger was also transported to the Jail and was put on a 24 hour investigative hold.

Westmoreland had the following warrants:

-Driving while Revoked or Suspended (Bond $125.00 cash or surety)

-Operate a Motor Vehicle without Maintaining Financial Responsibility (Bond $125.00 cash or surety)

-Probation Violation (Bond $20000.00 cash or surety)

-Probation Violation (Bond $25000.00 cash or surety)

-Probation Violation (Bond $15000.00 cash or surety)

-Probation Violation (Bond $15000.00 cash or surety)

Mr. Westmoreland will also be charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and for Unlawful Use of a Weapon. He is currently being held in the Bates County Jail.

Suspect in custody after police chase in Vernon County

The Vernon County Sheriff's Office has taken a suspect into custody at this time after a pursuit in Vernon County.

The suspect was taken into custody around the area of Earhart Road and M Highway in rural Vernon County.

SUSPECT PHOTO! This is a photograph of the vehicle theft from behind Jim Raysik’s this morning. This man had crashed a stolen truck on the bypass and then took this truck. 

He went to a local bank that had not yet opened and asked staff there if they were open and then left. Again this truck is a green 1994 Dodge Dakota extra cab bearing Missouri handicap license number 0AT56. 

It is unlikely that he is still in our area but if you do see this vehicle or this subject please call 911.

Four arrested on drug charges after search warrant in Appleton City

On July 24, four individuals were arrested on felony drug charges after the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Mid Missouri Multi Jurisdiction Drug Task Force with executing a search warrant at a residence on West Miller Street, Appleton City.

During the investigation it was determined Maxwell is currently residing at the home with Knowles and also shares a bedroom with her. While executing the warrant a plastic bag containing a crystalline substance, a glass pipe with a white powdery and burned substance inside, and a Heritage .22 caliber revolver were located in their bedroom. The bag and pipe field tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.

Shannon Knowles, 46, Appleton City, is charged with class D felony possession of a controlled substance, class E felony unlawful use of a weapon-subsection 11-possess weapon and a felony controlled substance, and class D misdemeanor unlawful possession of a drug paraphernalia. Bond is set at $15,000 cash or surety.
Robert Maxwell, 52, Warsaw, is charged with class D felony possession of a controlled substance, class E felony unlawful use of a weapon-subsection 11-possess weapon and a felony controlled substance, class A misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia-prior drug offense. Bond is set at $25,000 cash only.  
 Bertha Lockwood, 54, Humansville, is charged with class D felony possession of a controlled substance, class D misdemeanor unlawful possession of a drug paraphernalia, and class D misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Bond is set at $15,000 cash or surety.
Mark DeForrest, 59, Appleton City, is charged with class D felony possession of a controlled substance and class A misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia-prior drug offense. Bond is set at $25,000 cash only.


During the investigation it was determined Lockwood and DeForrest also currently reside at the home and share a bedroom. While executing the warrant a cardboard box was located in their room. The box contained two plastic bags with a crystalline substance inside each, a clear plastic straw with a white powdery substance inside, a glass pipe with a white powdery and burned substance inside, a clear plastic bag containing marijuana, and a wooden pipe with burned substance inside. The bags and the straw field tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.

Two plastic bags containing a crystalline substance were located in a pair of jean shorts with DeForrest’s wallet attached by a chain. A back pack containing a used hypodermic syringe, a spoon, and a straw with a white powdery substance was also located in their room. An envelope addressed to DeForrest was located inside the back pack. The substance inside one of the plastic bags and the straw field tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.








Nevada Police locate narcotics during fugitive arrest

In the late night hours of Sunday July 23rd Nevada Police received information that a known male subject from the Kansas City area was at a location in the 300 block of E. Grand Street and that this subject was suspected to be involved in the distribution of illegal narcotics. 

Nevada Police responded to a residence in the 300 block of E. Grand Street where the known male subject was located and determined to have several outstanding warrants for his arrest from the Kansas City area. 

During the course of the investigation officers located and seized suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The male subject, identified as Brandon D. Wall, age 22 of Kansas City, was taken into custody and transported to the Vernon County Jail for holding. On Monday July 24, 2017 the following charges were filed against Wall through the Vernon County Associate Court: 

Delivery of Controlled Substance, Felony C Wall is being held in the Vernon County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 cash only bond in addition to the outstanding arrest warrants.

Collins man arrested on St. Clair County warrant

On July 17, John Snethen, 40, Collins, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with class D felony abuse of a child and class A misdemeanor domestic assault-fourth degree-first offense. The warrant was issued the same day and bond is set at $10,000 cash only.

The charges stem from a St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office investigation the previous day when deputies took a report of domestic violence on SE 1151 Road, Collins.

During the investigation it was discovered Snethen allegedly punched a juvenile in the head with his fist and stated he would to snap the individual’s neck. Snethen was taken into custody pending the formal charge.






Stolen motorcycle from Hume recovered in Collins

On July 22, a St. Clair County deputy received information in reference to the location of a stolen motorcycle at a residence on SE 871 Road, Collins. During the investigation a 2004 Honda Rebel CMX 250 was located on the property. 

The motorcycle checked stolen out of Hume, Missouri. The motorcycle was towed and the owner notified.

First the heat, then the storms. It'll turn hot again today and Wednesday. Heat indices may climb as high as 105 in parts of eastern Kansas. 

Then there's a risk for severe storms Wednesday, mainly north of interstate 70. Damaging winds are the main threat with the storms on Wednesday.



Stolen vehicle in Clinton could be linked to man who fled on foot earlier today

The Henry County Sheriff's Office is attempting to locate a stolen 1994 green in color extended cab Dodge Dakota truck with a handicap license plate of 0AT56.

The truck was said to have a dent in the drivers side bed and it has not much gas in it.

The vehicle was stolen from the Raysik Auto Group and it may be occupied by a wanted subject who fled on foot from police in Clinton earlier today.

The Clinton Police Department along with Missouri State Highway Patrol is currently looking for a fugitive who is described as a white male with a bandanna tied around his head wearing a blue shirt and shorts no other description is available at the time.

The subject crashed a stolen pickup truck taken from the pilot store in St. Clair County he should be con is armed and dangerous.

Please call the police immediately if you see this individual currently we are being assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol helicopter in the search for this dangerous person. BE ALERT AND BE AWARE

Police Pursuit from Bates County ends in Garden City

Around Midnight last night the Garden City Police Department were contacted about a vehicle eluding Bates County Deputies, Cass County Deputies and Missouri State Highway Patrol. 

After the lengthy pursuit, GCMOPD officers were able to deploy stop sticks at the intersection of N Hwy and Z Hwy deflating three of the vehicle's tires. 

The vehicle continued for a short distance north on Z Hwy before the vehicle stopped. A 28 year old woman and a 33 year old woman were taken into custody. 

A records check of the occupants revealed a felony arrest warrant for one of the occupants. Drugs were found in the vehicle in a search of the vehicle.

Stockton man arrested on Nevada warrant

On 7/23/17 around 12:38pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Vernon County arrested 39 year old Joseph Roberts of Stockton, Missouri.

Mr. Roberts was arrested for 1.) Misdemeanor Nevada Police Department Warrant - Failure to appear in court.

He was booked into the Vernon County Jail and is currently listed as bondable.








Garden City man arrested in Cass County

On 7/24/17 around 10:16pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County arrested 49 year old Gary G.Johnson of Garden City, Missouri.

Mr. Johnson was arrested for 1.) Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance - Methamphetamine 2.) Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana 3.) No Valid Drivers License.

He was booked into the Cass County Jail in Harrisonville.















Three injured in rollover accident 4 miles east of Appleton City

On 7/24/17 around 4:20pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in St. Clair County along with St. Clair County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle rollover accident on Route A around 4 miles east of Appleton City.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by 34 year old Christopher M. Gurley of Appleton City, Missouri lost control of the vehicle causing it to travel off the left side of the roadway and overturn, ejecting Mr. Gurley and a front seat passenger 24 year old Alexandria D. Moore of Osceola, Missouri from the vehicle.

Mr. Gurley along with passenger Alexandria D. Moore both sustained serious injuries in this accident and both was transported by Eagle Two Air Ambulance to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.

A third passenger in the vehicle 44 year old Woodrow W. Gray of Appleton City, Missouri sustained minor injuries in this accident but he refused medical treatment at the scene.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by Bray's Tow of Osceola, Missouri.

Obituary - Clint Daniel Bullock

Clint Daniel Bullock
Clint Bullock, 46 of Louisburg, Kansas passed away July 22, 2017 at his home in Louisburg. 

A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, July 26, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Louisburg United Methodist Church in Louisburg. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Thursday, July 27 2017 also at the church. Cremation will follow services. Services under the direction of Mullinax Funeral Home, Drexel Chapel (660-679-0009). 

Memorial contributions are suggested in lieu of flowers to a memorial for his children. Messages of condolence may be left for the family at www.mullinaxfu-neralhome.com.

Clint Daniel Bullock was born May 8, 1971 in Topeka, Kansas to Daniel Bullock and Catherine Stowe Eber-hart. He graduated from Olathe South High School in 1991 and was united in marriage to Julie Holliday in 1992. From that union two children were born, Bret and Kayla. Clint worked for 19 years for Binswanger Glass in Kansas City before joining the family business, Bobcat Oil in 2012. Clint loved the outdoors, hunt-ing every season, fishing, camping, boating, playing golf and baseball. He enjoyed his music, movies, pets, and most of all his family. He was a very loving father, son, brother, uncle, and a friend to many.


Clint was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leo and Mary Stowe and Bob and Joy Bullock, along with his aunt Terry Stowe and his father Daniel Bullock earlier this year.

He is survived by his two children, Bret and Kayla Bullock both of Louisburg, KS. By is mother Cathy Eberhart and husband Bob of Louisburg, KS., , sister Jennifer Monteil of Bradenton, FL., ex-wife Julie Bailes of Louisburg, KS., half-brothers Matthew Bullock of Topeka, KS., and Clayton Bullock of KS., step-brothers Robert Eberhart, II and wife Angela of Louisburg, KS., and Jason Eberhart of Auckland, New Zealand. 

He is also survived by his uncle Bruce Stowe of Shawnee, KS., brother-in-law Jeffrey Monteil, of Gardner, KS., nieces, Ryan and Dylan Monteil, Taylor and Hailey Barth, Ashley and Megan Eberhart, and by nephews, Evan Monteil and Johnny Eberhart, along with numerous extended family members and great friends who will mis him greatly. 

Clint was a humble man who loved his family. We will carry him in our hearts for-ever.




Hume Community News 7/25/17


The Hume Fair is gearing up to get started from August 1 thru August 5. Arts/Crafts spaces are still available just need to call Kim at 660-447-6130. Plus Princess candidates Addi Rushing, Charlee Brown, Keigan Binford, Veronica Gwinn, Tammi Flores and Prince Candidate Paxton Wooldridge on busy selling tickets on $550.00 worth of merchandise. These are great kids who are all working hard.

The Hume Alliance Ministry will be holding a Hat Auction at the Hume Fair following the parade at 11:30 a.m. for a Henry Golden Boy 22 Long Rifle Lever Action Octagon Barrel. There will be ten hats with numbers in them and they will bid on their hats. If you are the winning bidder for a hat your number is put in the drawing for the gun.

Ed Sneed was involved in an accident while driving his mail route. Thankfully after a short trip to the hospital he was able to go home.

Ray Miner and Tim Norbury were recently in the hospital. We wish them both a speedy recovery.

Everett and Karen Irwin recently enjoyed a weekend camping at Bennett Springs. Others who were there were Carrie Irwin and Vernon Brooks and their children, Jason and Cassie Irwin and their children, and Cathie and Ryan Wooldridge and their children. Some enjoyed a float trip, lots of fishing, and just fun being together. We missed Jeffrey and Erika Irwin and their children who were in Branson, MO for the weekend.
