Update from Osage Valley Electric Cooperative

Please use our SmartHub App or call 800-889-6832 to report outages. Please do not use Facebook or Messenger to report outages. Our power provider, KAMO Power, has an issue on the transmission side causing a loss of power to six of our substations affecting over 6000 members. KAMO crews are working to repair the issue as quickly as possible.

We do have some storm damage on our side also and crews are working to make repairs so that power can be restored as soon as the transmission lines are up and working again.

Crews have a very busy night ahead of them as storms continue to move through our service area. We are thankful for your patience. Please be safe and stay away from downed power lines.

Severe Weather Likely Today/Tonight

Severe weather is looking likely late this afternoon and into this evening. A SW-NE oriented line of strong to severe storms is expected to form along a cold front over eastern KS around sunset. These storms have the potential to intensify quickly when they occur with all types of severe weather possible including tornadoes.

This line is expected to push east into the KC Metro area between 7-9pm and extend up into northern central Missouri with potentially damaging winds as it pushes through. Tornadoes that do occur tonight will be embedded into that line of storms making them very difficult to see, especially at night. If a tornado warning is issued in your area please follow the recommendations and do not wait until you can see the tornado as you probably will not be able to. Please be prepared tonight to shelter quickly if needed and pass the word on so everybody can be prepared, especially if you know of any outdoor events this evening.

Severe Thunderstorms Possible Today

A good day to be "weather-aware" later this afternoon and evening... A few thunderstorms are possible this morning north of the Interstate 70 corridor over N MO, but the bigger weather concern will come later today.

We are still expecting a line of thunderstorms to develop along a cold front during the afternoon. Some of these storms during the mid-afternoon into the evening hours may become severe, with damaging winds the greatest hazard.
