Burglary suspect arrives at scene while search warrant being executed in Vernon County

One Milo resident was charged Tuesday at the conclusion of a burglary investigation. Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher said his office took a report Monday afternoon of a burglary on 2600 Rd, Northeast of Sheldon. Mosher said, “the suspect vehicle was located at a residence Tuesday evening by a Sheriff’s Deputy, with the help of some citizens.”. 

Detectives then executed a search warrant on Underwood Rd, East of Milo and located stolen property from the burglary along with drug paraphernalia and a firearm. Mosher said, “the suspect arrived at the residence while the search warrant was being executed, making the Detectives job much easier”. 

The suspect, who has been identified as 30-year-old Zachary Guenther, of Milo was taken into custody at the scene. Guenther has been charged with: Burglary 2nd Degree Unlawful Possession of a Firearm Stealing Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. 

Zachary Guenther is being held in the Vernon County Jail on a $10,000 cash only bond.

Heavy Hearts in Belton

The Belton Police Department is saddened to announce the passing of Patrolman Marvin Troy Shaw #123. Ptl. Shaw has served with the department since 2015 as a reserve officer while he worked full time with the Belton School District. Ptl Shaw also served as the director of Belton Cares which is a non-profit group that serves to better our local community. Ptl.

Shaw devoted every aspect of his life to the betterment of those around him. All of us who were lucky enough to know him are better for it.

The passing of Ptl. Shaw will leave a void in our department and our community which simply cannot be filled. Rest In Peace Ptl. Marvin Troy Shaw.



Dog found in Rich Hill

This guy was found in Rich Hill today. He doesn't have a tag, so we are unable to identify the owner.

Burglary report in Nevada




TRAFFIC ALERT Bates County Route N CLOSED east of Rich Hill for Pipe Replacement Work

Where: Bates County Route N between Route B and Southeast 7586 Road east of Rich Hill

When: 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday, August 29

What: Both Route N lanes CLOSED to allow MoDOT crews to replace drainage pipe under the highway to keep water from pooling underneath and next to the road which could cause deterioration of the road bed

Traffic Impacts:
  • All lanes of Route N CLOSED between Route B and Southeast 7586 Road
  • Drivers will be able to get to driveways and entrances on either side of the work zone, but will not be able to travel through the work zone
  • Drivers urged to find alternate routes. No signed detours are planned.
