Updated Obituary - John Michael “Mike” Simons

John Michael “Mike” Simons, 76 of Greenfield, Missouri departed this life on Tues-day, September 10, 2019 at the Kansas City Hospice House. Cremation, with memo-rial services to be held 11:00 am Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Mullinax Funeral Home, Butler (660-679-0009). 

A visitation will also be held Saturday, prior to the service, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, also at the funeral home. memorial contribu-tions may be made to Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care. Messages of condolence may be left for the family at

Mike was born March 24, 1943 in Independence, Missouri to John Henry and Teresa Agnus Curtin Simons. Mike grew up in the Butler, Missouri area and graduated from Butler High School in 1961. Following graduation he attended college in Warrensburg, Missouri for a short time.

In 1963 Mike began a long career working for General Motors. In 1965 he was drafted by the US Army where he honorably served for two years. After discharge, Mike returned to General Motors where he would work until retirement in 1993.

Mike loved life and enjoyed so many hobbies. He loved to travel, hunt, fish, and loved to play pool with his buddies. He even met the love of his life, Gayle Gray while playing pool. They were united in marriage on September 8, 1983. Together they traveled throughout the US and spent several winters in Texas. After Gayle’s passing in 2004, Mike moved to Greenfield,

Missouri where he spent the last 15 years.

Mike loved coming home for holidays, spending time with his kids and grandchildren. He

always had a joke or riddle to share, often ending with his infectious laugh.

In the end, Mike was looking forward to going home to be with the Lord, but also to be reunited with his love, Gayle. He will be sorely missed by family and many friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, wife Gayle Sue Gray Simons, and by his sister

Kathleen Simons. He is survived by his two children, son Andy Copeland of Archie, MO., daughter-in-law Cindy Copeland of Harrisonville, MO., daughter Pam Cox and husband Doug

of Butler, MO., brother Pat Simons of Butler, MO., grandchildren, Preston, Paige, Abi, Amber, Tiffany, and Ashley, 12 great-grandchildren, and nephew John Simons, and nieces, Sherri Tucker and Marci Beckley and husband Dan, along with many, many friends.

Obituary - Philip Wayne Stocking

Philip Wayne Stocking, age 61, of Clinton, MO, died at his home on August 24, 2019. 

Philip was born in Clinton, MO, on August 13, 1958, to Philip I. and Dorothy ‘Harms’ Stocking.

Philip graduated from Clinton High School. He worked at Schreiber DDN plant.

He is survived by his daughter, Emily Stocking; his mother, Dorothy Stocking; his ex-spouse, Linda Stuefen; brothers and sisters, Linda, Marie, Helen, Joyce, Charles, Jane, Elaine, Harold, Marvin, Anita, Gary and Bruce.

Philip was preceded in death by his father, Philip I. Stocking.

The family will receive visitors at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at Consalus Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 AM.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Philip W. Stocking Memorial Fund and may be left in care of Consalus Funeral Home, 209 S. 2nd St., Clinton, MO 64735.

Ritch Henderson Concert Tonight In Butler

Ritch Henderson will be playing this Friday night in Butler at the Pennell on the historic Butler Square. If you have heard him then you know his voice is amazing. 

For those that have not heard him come experience how talented he is, he will not disappoint. Ritch is from Alabama and travels all over playing including recently in the Midwest at Tumbleweed musical festival . 

We are fortunate to have crossed paths with him and secure him to perform in small town Butler. You can find him on Facebook, YouTube, Spotify and others. Let’s pack the house

William Nathan Beard, 36, Adrian, MO, died Thursday, September 12, 2019 in Adrian. 

A memorial gathering will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 15, 2019, at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian, with cremation to follow.
