New Chief Deputy announced at the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office

Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher announced on Monday that Lt. Travis Cole has been named the new Chief Deputy at the VCSO following the retirement of Chief Deputy John Randall. Mosher said Cole will officially begin his new duties on December 1st. Cole began his career in law enforcement by graduating the MSSU Police Academy in December of 2006 and then working for the Nevada Police Department in February of 2007. Cole started working for the Sheriff’s Office in February of 2013 and has served as a patrol Sergeant, and Lieutenant during his tenure.

“Lieutenant Cole has always served our community with honesty, integrity and professionalism and I believe he will excel in this new role as well” said Mosher. Detective Sergeant Nick Norval has been promoted to Lieutenant and will assume Cole’s previous duties of overseeing the road deputies as well as overseeing investigations. 

Mosher also announced the Jail Administrator, Lt Eric Terry will also be retiring from law enforcement at the end of November as he begins a career in jail services for a private company. Patrol Sgt. Josh Barker has been named the new Jail Administrator and began his training for that position this week. Barker began his law enforcement career working in the Vernon County Jail before becoming a deputy. He then served as a detective before being promoted to Patrol Sergeant where he currently serves.
