Two Joplin teens escape serious injuries after striking deer in Bates County

On 11/1/20 around 8:15pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident in the southbound lanes of I-49 near mile marker 127.4 south of Butler.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche driven by 19 year old Geofery R. Currier of Joplin, Missouri struck a deer that was in the roadway.

A passenger in the vehicle 19 year old Audrey N. Cannon of Joplin, Missouri sustained minor injuries in this accident and she refused medical treatment at the scene of the accident.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene of this accident by Douty's Tow of Butler.
