Man accused of killing mother after intentionally striking her with vehicle in Linn County Kansas

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Linn County's Sheriff's Office are investigating a homicide in Linn County involving a woman being struck by a vehicle.

The Linn County Sheriff's Office says a Garnett, Kansas woman was killed when her vehicle was struck on Tuesday in the 1800 block of Keitel Road near Parker, Kansas.

Police say 42 year old James Allen of Parker, Kanasas was driving his truck when he hit his 70-year-old mother, Charlotte Grimes who was driving a small passenger car.

Investigators with the KBI believe Mr. Allen intentionally struck the car his mother was driving a second time.

James Allen left the scene on foot and later returned to the area in a second vehicle. By this time, EMS had responded and pronounced Mrs. Grimes dead at the scene.

Mr. Allen was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center where he was treated for minor injuries. He was then arrested by KBI for second-degree murder and booked into the Bourbon County Jail in Ft. Scott Kansas with charges pending.

The incident is being investigated by the KBI, the Kansas Highway Patrol and the Linn County Sheriffs office and is ongoing at this time.
