One dead after shooting in rural Warsaw

Benton County Central Dispatch received a 911 call from a residence on BB Highway, a rural Warsaw address.

The reporting party, Patrica A. Garvey, 63 of the residence, reported that a male, Jason Swanson, 37 was shot somewhere in his upper torso. Garvey stated that she and Garvey had a scuffle over a 12 gauge shotgun and it went off. Upon arrival deputies confirmed that Swanson was deceased from his injuries.

Due to the nature of the situation, the Division of Drug and Crime Control was called (DDCC) to process the scene. After a thorough investigation and interview, and based on the totality of the evidence, DDCC filed the charges of Involuntary Manslaughter 1st Degree (C Felony) and Armed Criminal Action. Garvey was served warrants for the aforementioned charges and is currently being held in the Benton County Jail on a $200,000 cash or surety bond.
