Suspect Rams Deputy Vehicle in Cass County Pursuit

Cass Co – Around 12:30 am Friday deputies with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office assisted officers with the Harrisonville Police Department involved in the pursuit of a 2005 Chevy truck on northbound I-49 north of Harrisonville.

The Sheriff’s Office Criminal Apprehension Unit Deputy responded to the area with a patrol vehicle equipped with a Grappler device. Approximately one mile south of Peculiar, the deputy was able to stop the vehicle. The driver of the truck got out of the vehicle at which time a passenger attempted to drive away.

The truck was still attached to the Grappler device preventing it from leaving. The subject then put the truck in reverse and struck the patrol car with a deputy in the vehicle, causing both vehicles to be disabled.

Deputies and Officers on the scene took two subjects into custody. A passenger was questioned and released at the scene.

The driver of the truck, Jeramy T. Box, 44, Kansas City was arrested on multiple Kansas City warrants and is being held pending charges related to this incident.

Bailey K. Allen, 23, Harrisonville was arrested on an active warrant for Second Degree Burglary in Jackson County, bond $5500.00. Allen is also being held pending charges related to ramming the Cass County patrol vehicle.

“The ability to deploy the proper staff, tools, and training to apprehend criminals is essential to our mission to keep Cass County safe. In this case the suspect acted with wanton disregard towards the public and deputies safety,” said Sheriff Jeff Weber.
