Kenny Lawrence, age 59 of Butler, Missouri died Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at his home in Butler. He was born September 1, 1960 to Leonard Leon and Martha Ellen McCray Lawrence in Liberal, Kansas.

Kenny is survived by one son, Chris Lawrence of Butler, Missouri; two daughters, Racheal Lawrence of Butler, Missouri and Gennie Lea Adams of Warsaw, Missouri; and former wife Kim Watts of Butler, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister.


Power Outage in the Freeman area of Cass County

Cass County Begins COVID-19 Testing of First Responders

Cass Co – On Tuesday employees of the Sheriff’s Office participated in the first round of COVID-19 antibody testing given to first responders in Cass County. “Our employees are on the front line everyday taking care of our citizens. During this pandemic, it is important that I take care of their health. Testing is a major component to ensure the health of our staff and community.” Said Sheriff Jeff Weber.

Under the direction of the Cass County Health Department and Kevin Latinis, M.D., Ph.D., three Cass County Sheriff’s Office EMTs received training on the test procedures and collection. The test requires a blood sample that is obtained through a simple finger prick. 

The testing is part of the task force project led by Presiding Cass County Commissioner Bob Huston to provide access to COVID-19 testing. “These test are an important part of working together with our community and protecting our first responders in the field. These people are our family, friends and neighbors, together we are #casscountystrong,” said Commissioner Bob Huston.

The Sheriff’s Office tested over 100 employees in the first two days that included deputies, dispatchers, and court security personnel. The test will be sent for testing and the results are returned in around 24 hours.

Obituary - Kimberly Ann Day

Kimberly Ann Day, 31, formerly of Nevada, MO passed away in Pittsburg, KS on Tuesday, April 28, 2020. She was born February 17, 1989 in Nevada, MO to David R. and Janet L. (Simpson) Day.
Kimberly attended Northeast Vernon County School through sixth grade before coming to Nevada and graduating from Nevada High School Class of 2007. She was employed at EaglePicher Technologies in Pittsburg, where she has worked for the past seven years.
She is survived by her parents, David and Janet Day, Nevada; two sisters, Lisa Neil (Matt), Crofton, MD, and Julie Woods (Jason), Nevada; one niece Madison Neil; three nephews, Blake Woods, Alex Woods, and Parker Neil; grandmother, Kitty Day, Sun City Center, FL; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
A private family committal service will be held on Monday, May 4, 2020 at Clintonville Cemetery in El Dorado Springs, MO with Bro. Grady Davis officiating.

Robert Darin Long, age 54 of Butler, Missouri died Monday, April 27, 2020 at Kindred Hospital Northland in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born November 11, 1965 to Ernest Eugene and Joyce Corene Long York in Butler.

Darin is survived by his parents, Ernie and Joyce York of Butler, Missouri; two brothers, Ernest Eugene York Jr. and wife Cinde of Goodman, Kansas and Bobby Wayne York and wife Melonie of Carthage, Missouri; two sisters, Jerlyn Hector and friend Tim Simms of Butler, Missouri and Teresa Robinson of Seneca, Missouri; and uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his grandparents

Alvin J. Briscoe, age 70 of Rich Hill, Missouri died Monday, April 27, 2020 in Rich Hill. He was born November 3, 1949 to John Earl and Jane Alice Davission Briscoe in Butler, Missouri.

Alvin is survived by his wife, Vianne Briscoe of Rich Hill, Missouri; two daughters, Tiffany Ann Taylor and Kristen Marie Taylor, both of Butler, Missouri; one brother, Leo Briscoe and wife Rosemary of Raymore, Missouri; one sister, Lois Fugitt and husband Rick of Rich Hill, Missouri; and one grandson, Lane Benedick. He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant brother, Russell.
