What the BEEP is going on?

Amsterdam residents are reporting a loud beeping noise coming from the KCP&L Machine Shop just across state line- all day, and ALL NIGHT. While it’s obviously nothing serious (at least we hope) could someone go push that button??

These folks need their rest. We’ve got a Jubilee coming!

Meat processing plant coming to Passaic

Per a recent Facebook post by Jim Hertzog, the former MFA building in Passaic is undergoing a transformation: 

This is the future home of Hertzog premium beef processing plant, we will be able to harvest 20 Hd a day, we hope to be opened in March. This will be a beautiful state of the art facility with full retail meat counter. As we get closer we will start booking cattle and hogs.- Jim Hertzog

Structure fire in Amoret

The Amoret Fire Department is on scene of a structure fire on State Route 52 Highway near 1st Street in Amoret at this time.

The house was reportedly vacant and is a total loss burnt to the ground. 

The cause of the fire is unknown to us at this time and we will update when more information is made available to us.

Clinton Fire Department will be hosting a Missouri Fire Fighter 1 & 2 Course

The Clinton Fire Department will be hosting a Missouri Fire Fighter 1 & 2 Course, to include Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations, beginning October 6, 2020. Students who successfully complete the course will be administered a state exam through the Missouri State Fire Marshals Office to earn State Certification. 

Student requirements for the course are as follows: must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent, possess a valid drivers license, and be 18 years of age or older. Students should also be in good physical condition as the course does at times require extreme physical exertion. Applicants must be a current affiliate with a Fire Department, EMS Agency, or Police Department.

Interested applicants can obtain an application by going to the departments website at Application deadline is September 14, 2020 by 5:00pm. More information on the course, to include course fee, can be found on the departments website.

Henry County Health Center reports COVID-19 death

Henry County Health Center received notification that the 52 year-old hospitalized male from Clinton passed away Saturday due to complications brought on by COVID-19. Our hearts go out to his family and friends during this difficult time.

UPDATE: Boil water advisory lifted for the city of Archie

***UPDATE! The test results have come back and the water is fine to use. As of Sunday afternoon, August 23, 2020, the boil advisory is lifted for the city of Archie, Missouri.***

Obituary - Marvin D. Abney

Marvin D. Abney, age 64, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2020. 

A memorial service will be held Monday, August 24, 2020 at Vansant-Mills Chapel at 6PM with visitation one hour prior.

Butler man escapes serious injury in Bates County Crash

On 8/23/20 around 11:28am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on FF Highway and CR 11002 in rural eastern Bates County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2016 Mazda 3 driven by 20 year old Timothy J. Hall of Butler, Missouri swerved to avoid hitting a vehicle that was in the roadway, vehicle traveled off the roadway coming to rest in the ditch.

Timothy J. Hall sustained minor injuries in this accident and he will seek his own medical treatment. The vehicle was removed from the scene of the accident by Adrian Tow.
