Obituary - Bart Allen Van Meter

Sadly, Bart Allen Van Meter, 48, Kansas City, MO, departed his life Sunday, January 24, 2021 at his home. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 29, 2021 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian, MO, with Military Honors and visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment to follow in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or a charity of choice. 

Bart was born August 22, 1972 to William Robert and Sharon Lavonne (Mayfield) Van Meter at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler, MO. Bart graduated from Raymore Peculiar High School in 1990. After graduating high school, Bart joined the U.S. Navy and served as Electronics Specialist aboard the USS Compte De Grasse during Desert Storm and until his departure from the Navy in 1996. Upon leaving the Navy, Bart married and resided in Virginia and Pennsylvania until he moved back to Missouri.

Bart was preceded in death by his father and both paternal and maternal grandparents. He is survived by three daughters, Jordyn Garey and husband, Evan of Platte City, MO, Kinsey Van Meter and Kendall Van Meter, both of Virginia Beach, Virginia; his mother, Sharon Houchen of Flemington, MO, sister, Stacy Barber and husband, Elvis of Amarillo, TX; three brothers, Robert Van Meter and wife, Michelle of Lee's Summit, MO, Dustin Van Meter and wife, Tabatha of Butler, MO, and Jason Dallen and wife, Rachael of Henderson, NV, and several wonderful aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
