Obituary - James H. Spalding

James H. Spalding, age 85, of Belton, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 25, 2021 in Kansas City, Missouri.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at South Haven Baptist Church, 16800 Bel-Ray Blvd., Belton, Missouri 64012. Interment will be held at Raymore Cemetery in Raymore, Missouri.

Jim was born in Windsor, Missouri on March 20, 1935 to Herbert S. Spalding and Lillian “Aletha” (Dunning) Spalding. After graduating from high school Jim served his country in the United States Army. On May 24, 1957 he was joined in marriage with his late wife, Shirley Joan Spalding, who sadly passed on October 17, 2013. With much success, Jim was the owner of Spalding Excavating. As a man who lived his faith, he was a founding member of South Haven Baptist Church in Belton, Missouri, and very much enjoyed the time he spent working tirelessly on the construction of the church. He was an avid Kansas City Royals fan.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Aletha Spalding; and loving wife of over fifty-six years, Joan Spalding.

He is survived by his three children, Cindy Zornes, Randy Spalding (Laurie), and Todd Spalding (Amy); brother, Mike Spalding; sister, Rosa Lee Burford; seven grandchildren, Maggie Jacobs (Nick), Kellsi Gibbs (Josh), Dustin Spalding (Koko), Brooke Ford (Luke), Anna, Madeline, and Grace Spalding; and five great grandchildren, Isaac, Deacon, Everly, Kolson, and Kinsley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to South Haven Baptist Church as addressed above.
