Sad news from the Clinton Police Department

The Clinton Police Department regrets to report that our K9 Officer Jhon passed away unexpectedly yesterday afternoon. Unbeknownst to any of us, he had an undetected cardiac issue that resulted in a sudden heart attack.

He was on duty at the time, and we take some comfort in knowing that he was doing what he loved the most when he passed- just being a police dog. Jhon served with the CPD for over four years and worked with two partners during his career-

Sgt. Derek Foreman and Sgt. John Scott- and was an incredibly successful drug detection dog. It is difficult to gauge the impact he made, but he certainly made an enormous contribution to the safety of his community through his impeccable work. He was a valued member of our team and his successes definitely paved the way for the huge expansions we have been able to make in our K9 program.

He is survived in the unit he helped create by K9 Officer Kadet and K9 Officer Bronco. In recognition of his faithful service, he has been awarded the Chief's Citation Award. Thank you for your service, Officer Jhon, and Godspeed!
