Obituary - Mickey Lee Ames

Mickey Lee Ames, age 70, of Belton, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 19, 2021 in Kansas City, Missouri.

At this time there are no services being held according to the family’s wishes.

Mickey was born in Fort Scott, Kansas on September 30, 1950 to Luster (Lee) Ames and Gertrude (Antrim) Ames. After graduating high school, Mickey completed college courses at Fort Scott Community Junior College. In the summer of 1983 Mickey was joined in marriage with his wife, Cheryl (Adams) on July 9th in Fort Scott, Kansas. Mickey was a jack of all trades, working everything from security to sales. He loved working with his hands as he was much of a craftsman. Mickey was a Journeyman Bladesmith and Blacksmith, a member of the American Dowsers Association, a member of the Ozark Research Institute in Fayetteville, Arkansas, a Mason, and a Shrine member. Like his father, he was a Citizen of the Cherokee Nation.

Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, Luster and Gertrude Ames. He leaves behind his loving wife of over thirty-eight years, Cheryl Ames of Belton, Missouri; son, David Ames of Fort Scott, Kansas; two daughters, Andrea Berry (Bill) of Annandale, New Jersey and Amber O’Hara (Travis) of Lake Lotawana, Missouri; brother, Danny Ames (Joan) of Polk City, Florida; and seven grandchildren, Isla, Peyton, Cooper, Jack, Anna, Hudson, and Pete.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, Missouri 64145.
