Just a minor inconvenience...

Sorry, no more shortcuts when making calls in Missouri starting April 24th; after that, you'll need to dial the full ten digit number (example 660-xxx-xxxx). This change is being done to accommodate the “988” National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, which takes effect in July, 2022. 

Yes, this will affect local numbers including 417, 660 and 816 area codes.

While it might be easy to remember the new format when making voice calls, don't forget to update fax numbers, alarm systems, call forwarding and other services.

No worries, if you dial the old way, a canned response will quickly remind you that you're doing it wrong.
