Obituary - James Wesley Fanning

James Wesley Fanning, 57, Milo, MO passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at his home in Milo. Wes was born June 6, 1963 in Nevada, MO to James W. and Norma D. (Cargill) Fanning. He married Susan Rodick on October 18, 2014 and she preceded him in death on May 12, 2017.

Wes was born and raised in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School Class of 1981. In 1987 Wes joined the United States Navy and served three years on the USS Ranger Aircraft Carrier during the Gulf War. He farmed with his grandfather Jerry for 20 plus years, worked at Eagle Beverage for several years, and drove a truck for Johnson Baker Trucking for seven years.

Survivors include three children, Kelly McClure (Brian), Nevada, Lacy Williams, Springfield, MO, and Kadence Fanning, Branson, MO; six stepchildren, Brent, Delia Jo, Michael, Haylee, Thomas and Erin; three grandchildren, Tre, Kolby, and Kaden; three sisters, Toni Chadd, Milo, Sherry Pruitt, Nevada, and Natalie Foreman, Nevada; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Susan, he was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services with Military Honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Steve Russ officiating. Committal will be held at the National Cemetery in Ft. Scott, KS at a later date.
