Butler man arrested after fleeing

On 4/4/2021 at approximately 8:50pm, Deputies were attempting to locate a male subject that was involved in a Burglary that had occurred earlier that day. The deputies was given the first name of Jared for the suspect. 

A deputy observed a male subject in Butler on a bicycle that he knew had a name of Jared. The Deputy attempted to make contact with that subject at the intersection of of Dakota Street and Main Street. The subject failed to stop for the Deputy on the Bike. 

The subject fled across the square with the deputy behind him with his lights and siren going. The male subject then rode his bicycle to Casey's on Ft. Scott Street.

The subject was taken into custody at Casey's for fleeing from the deputy. While attempting to take him into custody the deputy had to deploy a taser. While deputies attempted to put him into the patrol vehicle, he repeatedly kicked at the deputies and even struck one during the incident.

The male was identified as Jared M Lindsay of Butler Missouri. While transporting Lindsey to the Sheriff's Office he attempted several times to break out the back window of the patrol car by striking his head against the window. Once at the Jail, Lindsey continued to be combative and had to be restrained until he would calm down.

Mr. Lindsey was charged with 2nd and 3rd degree assault and is currently being held on $20,000 cash or surety bond.

Mr. Lindsey was eliminated as a suspect in the burglary from the early call for serviced and had he not fled from the officer would have been released from the initial contact with the deputy.
