Obituary - Vera Kay (Jennings) O'Bannon

Vera Kay (Jennings) O'Bannon passed away peacefully Thursday, April 15th, 2021 at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas with her family by her side.

Kay was born on August 13th , 1950 to William Bryan Jennings and Vera Laverne (Montgomery) Jennings in Clinton, Missouri. She enjoyed doing crafts with her daughter, making aprons, potato bags and wreaths. Kay made 1000’s of masks for the pandemic. She also enjoyed playing the slots at the boats, collecting frogs and gnomes.

Kay (a twin) was one of seven children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Conny Sue (Jennings) Jenkins, three brothers; Lonnie Francis Jennings, Jimmy Lee Jennings, Billy Vern Jennings, a Great-grandson Trenton Raye O’Bannon, and James A. Smart, her companion of 40 years.

She is survived by her daughter Rhonda Sue O’Bannon of Centerville, Kansas and her son Rodney L. (Ann) O’Bannon of Shawnee Mound, Missouri, twin brother Bryan Ray (Linda) Jennings of Knob Noster, Missouri, one sister Beverly Maurin (Jennings) Bowers of Clinton, Missouri.

One Grandchild; Clark Shelton (Stephanie) O’Bannon, three Great-grandchildren; Tristan Cole O’Bannon, Virgil Monroem O’Bannon, Cashus Earl O’Bannon, her Aunt Maurine June (Montgomery) Dehn and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Vera's wishes were to be cremated. A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, April 22nd from 5:00 to 7:00p.m. with Margie Briggs speaking at 5:30p.m.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Grant Cemetery Fund in Creighton, Missouri and can be left in care of the funeral home. Fond memories and condolences can be left online at
