Obituary - Hazelee Burnett

Hazelee Burnett, age 84, of Hopewell, Virginia, recently of Raymore, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 6, 2021 in her Raymore home.

Her daughters will be posting a Celebration of Life Video in Honor of Mother’s Day.

Hazelee was born at home in Pittsylvania County, Virginia on April 7, 1937 to Howard Lee Salmons and Winnie Hazel (Hardy) Salmons. Hazelee was very active in her church playing piano and singing in the choir. She had the most beautiful voice. At one point she even recorded a record. She graduated high school and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in education at the James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. She spent thirty years teaching kindergarteners in Danville, Virginia, and a few years in Hawaii which she absolutely loved and adored the children. She also learned how to play the ukulele and dance the hula. In life Hazelee was the most loving person to all that knew her. She was the best mother and grandmother that anyone could have ever asked for always smiling and so optimistic about life. As she spent much of her life educating, Hazelee was very passionate about donating her body to science so that others could learn.

Hazelee was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Winnie Salmons; and son in law, Kelly Brent Brown.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Donna Heintz and Laurie Brown; brother Noel Salmons (Deloris); and two grandchildren, Jova Heintz and Jaxson Brown.

She will always be missed and loved dearly. We find comfort knowing that she is with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and that she is singing with the Angels.
