Obituary - John Victor Wilson

John Victor Wilson, age 67, of Belton, Missouri, passed away on Friday, May 14, 2021 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

A celebration of John’s life will be held with a visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 21, 2021 at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083.

John was born in Kansas City, Kansas on April 6, 1954 to Louis Wilson and Arlene (Sixta) Wilson. He worked hard in many different trades, enjoying a successful career as a field service engineer, recently retiring from Kodak.

In life, John was a humble and modest man who would do anything for anyone. He was a master woodworker, enjoying nothing more than working with his hands, except maybe the KC Chiefs. John was well known for his sense of humor and never passed up a chance to tell a groan-worthy dad joke. He loved to host his family, cooking and entertaining. For the past thirty-one years, John was blessed with sobriety allowing him to enjoy the most of what life had to offer. He truly enjoyed gardening, cake, and along with his wife Elaine, was a restaurant connoisseur. Although he would often joke about the Wilson curse of closing down their favorite restaurants, over 50 of them, in fact.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Arlene Wilson.

He leaves behind his loving wife of over twenty-five years, Elaine (Snyder) Wilson; two daughters, Angela Moore (Sean) and Jessica Wilson; son Steven Kanatzar (Tanya); grandchildren, Kayla, Matthew, Ava, Jace, and Jackson; and great-grandson, Harrison; six siblings, Arlene Wilson, Tim Wilson (Janet), Elmo Wilson, Chris Wilson (Stacey), Victoria Bindseil (Steve), and Mike Wilson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association, 6800 93rd Street, Overland Park, Kansas 66212.
