Way to go Brytni!

Senior H&HP major and Iola, KS native, Brytni Graham, is completing her 480-hour summer internship in Butler, Missouri at the Bates County Extension Office (BCEO) for University of Missouri. She is working under the supervision of their Nutrition and Health Education Specialist and County Engagement Specialist.

Brytni tells us, “BCEO covers a total of 3 counties, so we are always traveling to different locations doing things like teaching cooking classes, teaching children in summer school, exercising with older adults, and organizing events for different grants. I have even had the opportunity to work under the Nutrition Programming Associate for Vernon County, going to schools and teaching children about the different food groups and the healthy foods in them! In this field, you can work with all populations.

That’s what I love most about this internship: every day is different, with different locations, classes, people, and age groups…not to mention the office staff in each county are absolutely amazing! It’s definitely a bonus getting to network with people in this field. It has been such a pleasure getting to know the ropes of Extension and learning just how many jobs there are in the health field that I never would have known about!”

Brytni is the first of our majors to intern for the BCEO; we are proud of her for pursuing her passion, and we know she will thrive in the public health setting. Thanks, Brytni!! - Courtesy of ESU Health & Human Performance Program
