Important news from the Belton Police Department

Effective 7/07/2021, the Belton Police Department will no longer be responding to non-emergency loose animal calls from 5 PM to 8 AM. The police department will not accept animals relinquished at the department during these hours.

If you contain an animal at large, you may do one of the following:
1) keep the animal until the Animal Control Officer is on duty
2) make a post on social media hoping the owner claims the animal
3) have the animal scanned at a vet clinic or pet store for a microchip
4) release the animal so it may return home

If you see an animal at large, you may contact dispatch at 816-331-1500 and the information will be forwarded to the Animal Control Officer who will handle the call during the hours of 8 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday. Officers WILL still respond to dangerous animal calls.

Animal Control can be reached by calling the non-emergency Police dispatch number 816-331-1500 or directly at 816-348-4423.
