Obituary - Ralph Austin Courtney

Ralph Austin Courtney, age 77 of Deepwater, Missouri, passed away Saturday, July 10th, 2021 at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Thursday, July 15, 2021 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton. 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Deepwater Cemetery (aka Knights of Pythias Cemetery), Deepwater, Missouri. Ralph Austin Courtney, 77 of Deepwater, MO was born January 22, 1944.

He was preceded in death by his parents Otho C. & Velva M. (Sanders) Courtney; brothers: Clifford Cravens, Larry Cravens; sisters: Betty Hooten-Hughes, Shirley Hayes.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Francis Jackson of Sugar Creek, MO; brother, Gary & wife Marti Courtney of Independence, MO; son, Thomas & wife Anita (Diane) Courtney of Marshfield, MO; son, Christopher Courtney of Springfield, MO; son, Bryan & wife Jamie Courtney of Springfield, MO; daughter, Janice & husband Richard Dills of Independence, MO; 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

He worked at William Volker & Co in Kansas City, MO; Hite Carpet Co in Clinton, MO; as a deputy with the Henry County MO Sheriff’s Dept.; and in the Medical Supply business before retiring.

A loving father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved his family & friends very much. Enjoyed spending as much time as possible with family; the grandchildren & great-grandchildren and loved them dearly. He always loved to see the excitement on their faces when they would go for golf cart rides and visit the neighbors.

He will be missed tremendously, but will be in our hearts and fond memories forever.
