Russell Noel James II, 79, was born in his home August 19, 1941 on his family’s farm in Ozark County, Missouri. He departed this life in his home July 8, 2021 on his farm in St. Clair County, Missouri.

He enlisted in the Navy in 1959 during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge from the Navy in 1962 he went to work as a fireman for the Kansas City, Missouri Fire Department. He was able to repair almost anything from a household appliance to a tractor, but he took the greatest pride not in his own accomplishments, but those of his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Sharon Kay (Thomas) James; daughter, Miechele Summers and husband Mike; son, Dr. Russell James III and wife Esther; grandson Andrew James Summers and wife Alice; granddaughters, Charisma James and Grace James; sister Donieta Cunningham; brother Lowell James, and sister Sonya wood and husband Tom.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Hospice Compassus for their outstanding care during the last eight months of Russell’s life.
