Obituary - Donna Sue Kendrick

Donna Sue Kendrick, 81, Archie, MO, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Wellsville Retirement Community in Wellsville, KS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 28, 2021 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO with visitation from 10:00-11:00. Burial will follow in Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harrisonville Animal Shelter.

Donna Sue was born July 26, 1940 in Warrensburg, MO, a daughter of Donald Clayton and Nellie Mae (Harding) Horn. She attended Archie schools from fourth grade through high school, graduating in 1958. Donna Sue also received an associate’s degree from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, MO. Donna married the love of her life, William “Bill” E. Kendrick on September 5, 1958 in Jefferson City, MO. They were blessed with three sons and many grandkids and great-grandkids. She had lived in Raytown, MO before moving back to Archie in 1962.

Donna Sue worked for Archie Public Schools as a secretary for 20 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Archie and also sang in the choir. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi. Sue wore many hats and did it with grace, love and kindness. She was a giver and shared a smile with everyone. She enjoyed her family and friends gatherings, playing cards, bowling, Snapchat, feeding any cat, dog or bird she could, road trips and slot machines.

Donna Sue was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Mary Horn. She is survived by her husband, William “Cape”, of the home; her three sons, Bill and Janetta Kendrick, Drexel, MO, Barry and Paula Kendrick, Camdenton, MO, and Brent Kendrick, Kansas City, MO; 6 grandkids, Scott and Ginna Kendrick, Thomas and Jill McCoy, Ben and Stephanie Hansen, Charles and Kelly Anderson, Kurtis and Kayla Weaver, Andrew and Brianna Bissell; and the cream of the crop, the great-grands, Madie, Aidan, Trevor, Lily, Chase, Sydney, Riley, Cora, Quinn and Charlie.
