Obituary - Jerry Larkin Steele

Jerry Larkin Steele, age 79, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away at home on Sunday, October 3, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment with military honors will follow at 2:45 p.m. at Floral Hills Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri

Jerry was born in Kansas City, Missouri on August 21, 1942 to Thomas Larkin Steele and Gladys Louise (Cole) Steele. Jerry graduated from Ruskin High School and continued his education receiving an associates degree in Horticulture. Jerry served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from February 1967 to August 1968. He was a part of the Airborne 101st Paratroopers.

In the spring of 1972, Jerry was joined in marriage with his wife, Donna (O’Connor) on April 21st in Grandview, Missouri. Jerry was a man meant for the outdoors as he enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and riding motorcycles. Jerry would also want others to know that he played a role in The Green Berets with John Wayne. He rode bareback broncs and Brama bulls in the rodeo, and he raced big class motorcycles 650cc in the TT Scrambles. Jerry was a big fan of Native American artifacts and later in life enjoyed collecting memorabilia, arrowhead hunting, and crossword puzzles.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Gladys Steele; brother Thomas Steele; and sister, Carol Faulkner.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Steele; son, Lance Nickel Steele (Tracy); two daughters, Teresa Clouse (Richard) and Heather Wright (Kevin); brother Robert Steele (Debbie); six grandchildren, Joshua Clouse (Kasey),, Amanda Wong Loi Sing (Nathaniel), Christen Reger (Troy), Meagan Wright, Caleb Wright, and Adam Wright; and seven great grandchildren, Elizabeth Clouse, Skylnn Reger, Amelia Clouse, Jovie Wong Loi Sing, Zoey Wong Loi Sing, Isiah Wong Loi Sing, and Archer Reger.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to The ALS Association Mid-America Chapter, 6405 Metcalf Ave., Suite 205, Overland Park, Kansas 66202.
