Cowboy life called once again and after selling the drive inn, Maynard managed a cattle ranch in Camp Point, IL and from there went on to become an independent sales representative in the western industry, selling saddles, tack, buckles and cowboy hats to western stores throughout Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan. He retired from sales life as one of the top salesman for Circle Y Saddle Co.
Maynard was an avid sports fan from professional sports to high school sports. He loved watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren compete in sports. He also enjoyed playing cards and always anticipated his weekly card game with a foursome of close friends.
In addition to Doris, his wife of 71 years, he is survived by his daughters, Melinda Gates (Bill) of Nevada, Jan Reed (Denny) of Rich Hill, Joy Tudor (Jack) of Nevada and Vickie Robinson of St Louis; six grandchildren, Tyson Beshore (Kristy) of Nevada, Tiffany Myers (Tom) of Pittsburg, KS, Derek Reed (Maureen) of Lee's Summit, Dane Reed (Danielle) of Lee's Summit, Wes Osbourn of Houston, TX and Jill Barrett (Seth) of Nevada; eight great grandchildren, Calli and Cade Beshore, Logan and Addy Myers, Charlie and Lanie Reed, Jocelyn and James Reed and one soon to arrive great granddaughter, River Barrett. He is also survived by his brother, Mark Miller (Harva) of Nevada and sister-in-law Alice England of Ottawa, KS and many nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, brother Clyde W Miller, sister Maxine Ruesink, and several sisters and brothers in law; Jean Miller, Gordon Ruesink, JW England, Francis and Irene Klink, Betty and Jack Grider, Ray and Blondie Killgore.
Maynard will be cremated and there will be no services. The family suggests memorials to the Nevada R5 Foundation, Marsha Hooper, 811 W Hickory, Nevada, MO 64772 to be used per Maynard's wishes.
