Ricardo was born in Kansas City, Missouri on May 6, 1952 to Valentine Estrada and Bertha (Tamayo) Estrada. Ricardo graduated from high school and continued his education, receiving is master’s in business administration from Washington University, and majored in finance. He also received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. For many years, Ricardo worked for the Internal Revenue Services as a customer service representative. He was a man of Catholic faith.

Ricardo had a passion for comic books. He followed several series including Supper Man, Batman, Thor, Justice League and Dark Knights just to name a few, being very particular about the writer and illustrator. Ricardo had an encyclopedic knowledge of comics which he loved to share with family and friends. When movies based on comic book stories hit the theatres, Ricardo and Christopher were out the door. He always had an opinion of whether the story line was accurately followed or not. He saved every comic book from a young age, and they are setting in our basement. After he was unable to read them, he decided to donate them to an uplift project that sent care boxes to military overseas.

In his earlier years and when we first got married, he loved to go to the movies. He couldn’t wait for Christopher to get old enough so he could take him. The first movie he took him to was Batman with the penguin. I thought that was a little dark for him, but he wanted to take him anyway, first father and son movie. Ricardo always bought the biggest bucket of popcorn and drink. That was their time together, and on the way home they would critique the movie.

Ricardo was a prankster and enjoyed the setup and execution. He and his partner in crime Mike would think of pranks to play on different people in the office. On one occasion, Ricardo turned his buddy Mike’s cubical into a Turkish Bath. He made a sign that said “Mike’s Turkish Bath” He put a shower rod and curtain across the front of Mikes cubical and included a basket with soaps and towels. However, Mike came to work early that day and moved the Turkish Bath to someone else’s cubical named Mike. When Ricardo came into work, it backfired, he was the one that got pranked.

He was so thoughtful and considerate. On Valentine’s Day, Ricardo gave all the women in the office a single Rose. He wanted to make sure they received flowers on Valentine’s Day. Ricardo liked to surprise me. On one occasion, my neighbor built a porch on the front of their house. I told Ricardo that looks nice, hummm I kind of like that. When I came home from being out of town, I had a porch. I had to be careful of what I said because he would buy or make it happen. He was so loving, he wanted to shower me with gifts and surprises.

Family was important to Ricardo and he loved them all dearly.

Ricardo was preceded in death by his parents, Valentine and Bertha Estrada, brother Edward “Eddie” Estrada, niece Valerie Estrada and nephew Shaun Estrada.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Anna Estrada; son, Christopher Estrada (Tara); grandson, Grayson Teeling-Estrada; three brothers, Charlie Estrada (Rita), Ramon Estrada, and Valentine Estrada (Sharon); sister, Jeanine Estrada; nieces and nephews, Rita Lou, Nick, Mary Frances, Lauren, Christi, Marissa, Alicia, Daniella, Marcus, Christopher, Jeanette, Amanda, Andrew, Michelle, and Mike; and great nieces and nephews, Ava, Arcello, Bella, Aubrey, Riley, Luke, Avery, Reese, Ralphie, Layla, Gavin and Soraya, Alexis, Audrey, and Noah.

Ricardo was a kind and generous sole and he will be dearly missed.
