Update from the city of Harrisonville

INFORMATION: The city of Harrisonville would like to provide you an update regarding the water main break that happened Wednesday and the precautionary Boil Advisory that followed.

At about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, staff were notified about an 8-inch water main break in the area of Lexington and Sycamore. Staff shut down the main and were able to successfully cut out and replace the broken section of pipe. Staff had the issue resolved at 2:30 p.m. The precautionary Boil Advisory was posted as a result of the pipe being cut out and replaced.

At about 2:10 p.m. Wednesday, staff were notified of a second water main break located in the area of Independence and Vine. Staff ran into several issues while trying to repair the broken main but were finally able to remove the split pipe and finish installing the new section at about 12:30 a.m. on Thursday. The area covered by the original precautionary Boil Advisory was the same area that was affected by the second water main break, eliminating the need for a second precautionary Boil Advisory.

At this time, staff believe water is safe to use/drink for those in the affected area, except for nine (9) addresses who received special door notices from the Water Department.

We want to thank each person affected by this issue for their patience and understanding during the past 24 hours. We also want to thank the members of our staff who work diligently to make sure the issue was resolved as quickly and efficiently as possible.
