Obituary - James Earl Street

James Earl “Jim” Street, age 78 of Springfield, Missouri died Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Cedarhurst of Springfield in Springfield. He was born August 21, 1943 to Earl Edward and Helen Louise VanDyke Street in Chillicothe, Missouri.

Jim, one of two children, graduated from Raytown High School in Raytown, Missouri. After high school he joined the Army Reserves and also started his banking career working at Traders Bank in Kansas City, Missouri. While working in the banking industry, he attended the Graduate School of Banking in Madison, Wisconsin. Jim worked at several banks throughout his career, but most notably was the founder of Village Bank in Springfield, Missouri.

On April 18, 1964 he was united in marriage to Donna Lee Anderson who preceded him in death on March 14, 2015. To this union of marriage, two sons and a daughter were born. Jim lived in Springfield since 1984 and was actively involved in his community. He was Board Chair of City Utilities, Board President of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, member of Missouri Arts Council, President of Juanita K. Hammons Board, founding member of the Ozarks Technical Community College Foundation and involved with the Salvation Army.

Jim enjoyed spending time on the lake and boating. He had a love for classic cars and music and loved to tell stories and to make people laugh. He loved to travel, and his favorite spots were beach locations or Lake Michigan.

Jim is survived by one daughter, Shannon Street of Springfield, Missouri; two sons, Shawn Street and wife Andrea of Joplin, Missouri and Tyler Street and wife Brooke of Ozark, Missouri; one sister, Ruth Bulick and husband Tom of Arlington, Texas; four grandchildren, Ian, Gwenna, Finley and Truman and one nephew Zach. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Donna.
