Old 71 Speedway Race Report by Bill Bass

Old 71 Speedway Race Report! From April 30th: Most of you already know I took on the announcer duties at Old 71 Speedway and while I still have a lot to learn but it continues to get easier with each event. (I’m no wolf man Jack)

Highlights of the night!

The Studio M salon and boutique Midwest modified feature was an emotional win for Jacob Hall, winning the feature in dominating fashion carrying the number 101 of his uncle Harlen Kennedy who we recently lost to cancer. Stand up team! Congrats
on the win

The second highlight would be the Recycled Homes USRA B mod feature, Wow what a race! The top three, Nic Hanes, who would emerge the Victor, Mike Striegel, who would settle for second and Brayton Skaggs, who would take third, put on a show that didn’t disappoint, at times running three wide, Brayton Skaggs gave new meaning to running the top!

If you missed this race you just simply missed out. Great job guys! Close racing while respecting each other! Priceless!

Hard luck awards
The first one would have to go to
Brad Smith who on April 30th 12 years ago to the date was the feature winner at what is now Old 71 speedway. Brad wouldn’t get a chance to make history, Brad broke in hotlaps and wouldn’t be able to continue.

My last hard luck award would have to go to
Paden Phillips who while leading the feature in his 9D8 USRA modified broke and was unable to continue, Chase Domer would go on to win.

I hope to see everyone back next Friday for our regular scheduled racing and then Saturday May 8th for the Studio M salon and boutique Mid West mod shootout, $1500 to win! Jerry is also paying $500 to win for factory stocks and $1000 to win for Latemodels.

That’s all for now, Wild Bill Bass

Elevated fire risk today!

The gusty winds this afternoon will create an elevated fire weather concern, especially in areas that haven't fully greened up yet. Be cautious with fire today, a little could go a long way!
