Obituary - Sheryl Hallam

"This too shall pass," said Sheryl to her family, friends, and anybody who knew her throughout her life. When encountering hardships in particular, that was her motto and her go to message she left people with when they needed her advice on anything. She would remind everyone of this even now.

Sheryl was, first and foremost, a devoted Christian and dedicated every area of her life to God. Her favorite roles were wife, mother, grandma, sister, daughter, and teacher. Her children frequently recall walking in her bedroom and seeing her on her knees by her bedside with her Bible in prayer every morning. She loved going to her children's sport's games, FBLA, family trips, and helping out in anyway possible whether it was homework or redecorating her children's houses or anything in the community. She loved to shop and spoil her children. Once back in the car she would tell them, "don't tell your dad how much we spent." She was always ready to help anybody who needed her.

She was active in the Schell City Baptist Church for many years and loved teaching Sunday School, leading hymns, or assisting as church treasurer. She truly demonstrated a servant's heart and will leave a legacy of this.

She lived by the scriptures every day of her life but especially Proverbs 31 and would be an example to her own daughters and granddaughter of a virtuous, godly woman.

Sheryl was born on August 2, 1954 to Joe and Evelyn Bell in Schell City, MO. She attended Schell City school and graduated valedictorian. She gave her all to her academics and sports, while also falling in love with her high school sweetheart and later husband, Kenny Hallam.

Sheryl graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business Education from Southwest Baptist University in 1976. She began teaching in the NEVC community and taught for 41 years after "just one more year." Her children are reminded of her stating often, "if you love your job, you'll never work a day in your life." And, she did just that.

Kenny and Sheryl Hallam were married on a hot, summer day on July 9, 1976. Sheryl had recalled their wedding cake leaning due to the heat in the church building, but it did not matter because she finally married the love of her life. They built a home in Harwood MO on a farm and had many years there. They were blessed with four children - Tristan, Kendra, Toni, and Tiffani.

Sheryl passed away peacefully with family by her side on Tuesday February 1, 2022, at Jefferson Health Care in Lee's Summit, MO.

Sheryl leaves behind her family she loved beyond measure. Her husband, Kenny, of 45 years; Tristan and Linda Hallam, and grandchildren Kalei and Braxton, of Belton MO; Kendra Hallam, of Raymore MO; Toni and Josh Reeves, of Ozark MO; and Tiffani and Austin Kicksey, of Fordland, MO. As well as her brothers and many nieces and nephews.

Remember in life as Sheryl would always say..."This too shall pass."
