Obituary - Daniel Hernandez Jr.

Daniel Hernandez, Jr., age 90, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022.

A celebration of Daniel’s life will be held on a date yet to be determined.

Daniel was born in Parsons, Kansas on September 12, 1931 to Daniel Hernandez Sr. and Francisca Yanez. After graduating high school, Daniel attended Labette County Community College before enlisting in the United States Army. After his honorable service, Daniel completed his formal education at Rockhurst University receiving his Associate of Arts degree.

Daniel worked for many years as an Associate Engineer for AT&T. As a talented designer, he would often sketch home building designs and also considered himself a D.I.Y. man. He was a home builder and helped his father build two homes in his hometown of Parsons, Kansas as well as built two homes for himself. He was a man of Catholic faith and most recently was a member of St. Sabina Catholic Church in Belton, Missouri. 

Daniel was also known for his love and talent in golfing. In fact the picture provided was a shot taken right after he hit a hole in one. Daniel also enjoyed playing tennis, bowling, and impromptu weekend road trips to Key West to go scuba diving only to return to work on Monday. Above all, Daniel valued his family more than anything.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Sr. and Francisca Hernandez; brother, Edward Hernandez; sister, Rebeca Jaramillo; two infant brothers, Guadalupe Hernandez and Jaime Hernandez; and brother Jaime Hernandez.

He is survived by wife of over fifty years, Delia Hernandez; three brothers, Hector, Federico, and Francisco Hernandez; and three sisters, Ramona Yglesias, Elvita Orozco, and Connie Crutcher.
