Obituary - Jerry Lynn Cooper

Jerry Lynn Cooper, age 80, of Calhoun, Missouri passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. 

Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Vansant-Mills Chapel in Clinton with visitation from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the service. 

Burial in Hopewell Cemetery Montrose, Missouri. Memorial contributions can be made to C.A.R.E. and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Jerry was born on February 14, 1942 in Clinton, Missouri to Charles Otis and Kathleen (Young) Cooper.

Jerry graduated Clinton High School in 1960, and Married Linda Lucille (Long) Cooper on November 5, 1960. After graduation he worked as an auto mechanic for the Walker Motor Co. in Clinton Mo. In 1964 the family moved to California where Jerry was Head Mechanic at the American Indian Motor Co. After 10 years they moved back to Missouri where he worked for the Clinton Fire Department, Owned and operated the Cooper Dairy Farm in Calhoun, Mo, and was a mechanic for the KC Metro Bus Co. until his retirement in 2008.

Jerry was a one-of-a-kind spirit that broke the mold, he had an infectious laugh and never met a stranger. He had a strong love for his family and would go above and beyond for them. He was softhearted and ornery all at once.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was predeceased by a brother Jack Cooper, a sister Mary Kay (Cooper) Miller, and a granddaughter Stacie Cooper

He is survived by his wife Linda (Long) Cooper of Calhoun Mo, and his children Beverly (Cooper) and Bob North of Kansas City, Charles Douglas Cooper of Calhoun, and Lori (Cooper) and Dale Willcockson of Calhoun. His grandchildren Jerry Lynn Cooper, Elizabeth North-Pilotte, Christina (Willcockson) Mantonya, Kathleen (Willcockson) McCord, and Melinda (Willcockson) Chowning, and 13 great grandchildren.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri.
