Cutshaw charged with 1st Degree Murder in New Years Eve shooting in Amsterdam

Charges against Christopher Estell Cutshaw have been upgraded to 1st Degree Murder in connection with the December 31st shooting of Michael Strup in Amsterdam, Missouri.

According to reports Mr. Cutshaw 36 of Louisburg, Kansas shot Michael Strup twice then fled the scene of the shooting on foot. 

Bates County Sheriff's Deputies responded and apprehended Cutshaw a short time later where he had been hiding in a relatives garage.

Michael Strup 43, who suffered gunshot wounds to the face and head and was transported by Life Flight Air Ambulance to a Kansas City area hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.

Cutshaw was initially charged with assault in the first degree and armed criminal action. Prosecutor Hugh C. Jenkins says Cutshaw will be arraigned on the amended 1st Degree Murder Charge on May 25th, 2022 with Judge Julie Highley-Keutzer presiding.
