Obituary - Marion Oakley Ray

Funeral services will be held at Hill and Son Funeral Home in Appleton City, Missouri on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.

Visitation will preceded the service between 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.

Officiating at the service will be Jerry Johannigmeier and Pastor Cole Heiserman. Interment will occur immediately following funeral services at the Appleton City Cemetery in Appleton City, Missouri.

Memorial contributions are suggested for the Appleton City Cemetery.

Marion Oakley Ray was born on February 20, 1936 in Appleton City, Missouri, the son of Marion Dillon and Mary Elizabeth (Dannenbrock) Ray and he passed away peacefully at the Appleton City Manor in Appleton City, Missouri on April 29, 2022. Marion grew up in the Appleton City area, where he graduated from Appleton City High School in 1954. Shortly after graduation, he married Shirley Oehring, and later Rinda Houchin. To these unions 5 children were born: Dennis, Kathy, Michael, Alisa, and Randy.

Oakley began farming at 14 years old and later entered a career in the logging trade. He was an extremely hard-working man, who instilled a strong work ethic in all his family. Along with this, his family and spending time working with them were very important to him. Oakley was a good man and a great father. He enjoyed many long days being outdoors in the woods working, where he took most of his vacations while on the job. He will be deeply missed by his many family and friends.

Oakley was preceded in death by his parents, Marion Dillon and Mary Elizabeth (Dannenbrock) Ray; one son, Michael Ray; one granddaughter, Shelly Lynn Cravens; and his companion, Rhoda Jensen.

He is survived by his children: Dennis (Debbie) Ray, Kathy (Jerry) Cravens, Alisa Ray, and Randy (Barb) Ray; a brother, John Ray; two sisters: Goldena Curry and Joanne Rosales; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; along with many extended family and good friends, who will miss him dearly.
