The vehicle picked up speed, then turned on a road with a dead end then proceeded through a field and ended upon Old 13 highway.
The driver of the vehicle continued to fail to yield to the deputy's emergency lights and sirens and backup from Lowry City Police Department arrived on scene to assist with the pursuit. The vehicle turned, struck a barbed wire fence and crashed into a creek.
The driver of the vehicle, Ethan Brookeshire, 31, Arcadia, KS, took off running on foot and was followed by the Lowry City Police Officer. Brookeshire was taken into custody and officers were notified by dispatch that he had a nationwide warrant out of Cherokee County, Kansas for Theft.
Brookshire was charged with Resisting Arrest, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Failure to Stop at a Posted Stop Sign, and 2nd Degree Property Damage. The front seat passenger, later identified as Courtney Allen, 23, Arcadia, KS, had probation violation warrant out of Labette County, Kansas and was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance.
The back passenger, later identified as Joshua Lee, 43, had a warrant out of Cherokee County, Kansas for Failure to Appear. Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and found controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.
