Nevada Police Department make arrest in sexual assault cases

Throughout May 2022 Nevada Police received reports in reference to incidents of sexual assault involving minors that had previously occurred over a period of time.

Nevada Police Officers investigated these cases in cooperation with the Missouri Department of Social Services - Children’s Division and the Children’s Center of Southwest Missouri - Nevada Office.

On June 23, 2022 Nevada Police took the known male suspect into custody and transported him to the Vernon County Jail for holding. The suspect has been identified as follows: James E. Monroe III, age 39 of Nevada.

On June 23, 2022 the following charges were filed against Monroe through the Vernon County Associate Court:

One (1) Count of Statutory Sodomy 1st Degree - Deviate Sexual Intercourse with a Person Less Than 14 Years Old - Unclassified Felony

One (1) Count of Statutory Sodomy/Attempt - Deviate Sexual Intercourse with a Person Less Than 14 Years Old - Aggravated Sexual Offense - Unclassified Felony

One (1) Count of Child Molestation 1st Degree - Class B Felony

Two (2) Counts of Sexual Misconduct Involving a Child Under 15 - Class E Felony

Mr. Monroe is being held in the Vernon County Jail without bond.
