City of Nevada keeps growing!

Last year the City of Nevada Parks Board submitted a five year plan to the City Council. Three suggestions from our list have been selected by the Community Foundation, and in partnership with the City, fundraising will begin to create courts for three sports: basketball, tennis, and pickleball. We are so excited to see these park amenities come to fruition so soon!

This is a $1,000,000 project in total! Funds will be raised from donations and grants to a special fund established by the Community Foundation, and the City is providing the lots and park space. Here is where the new courts will be located:

1. A new park where the old Baptist Church stood will be the future home of eight pickleball courts. Along with disc golf, pickleball is a fast growing sport and also like disc golf, it can be played by all ages and agilities. There will be eight courts which will also allow us to host tournaments and bring visitors to our community. Three of the courts will be ADA compliant to accommodate wheelchairs.

2. At McHugh Field in Walton Park (currently a soccer field) we will be creating a new recreation center with four tennis courts and two full sized basketball courts.
