Obituary - Willis Jean Brown

Funeral services for Willis Jean Brown of Raytown, Missouri will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2022 at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. Willis Jean Brown, age 83 of Raytown, Missouri died Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Ignite Medical Resort Carondelet in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born June 9, 1939 to Thomas and Ollie Mae Scott Snead in Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

Willis, one of seven children, grew up in Pleasant Hill, Missouri where she graduated from high school. She furthered her education and earned an LPN degree. Willis worked at Butler Memorial Hospital in Butler, Missouri and Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. On June 25, 1916 she was united in marriage to Carl William Brown and to this union, two sons were born. Willis was a member of the Christ Refuge Community Church in Belton, Missouri.

Willis was loving, kind, curious, a bit stubborn . . . and free spirited! Her pastimes and enjoyments included reading romance novels, making pottery, watching Hallmark movies, traveling and vacationing. She was happiest spending with her family.

Willis is survived by her son, William Jennings Brown of Raytown, Missouri; a granddaughter, Cilifia Brown of Raytown, Missouri; and a great-granddaughter, Akayla Nichols of Raytown, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl William Brown; son, Troy Brown; three brothers, Roy Snead, Winford Snead and Wayman Snead; four sisters, Cecilia Franklin, Leota Armstrong, Marquise Guest and DeEtta Gant; and a cousin, Juanita Edwards.
