Cora Jean Smith was born August 27, 1969 in Clinton, Missouri to Gary and Margaret Doll Smith. She grew up in Lockwood, Missouri where she graduated from Lockwood High School in 1987.

Cora then furthered her education and began working as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Restorative Assistant, and later a CMT. She was a dedicated and compassionate caregiver. She was truly the best. Cora put her whole heart into caring for others and making people feel loved and special.

During her career in healthcare she has worked at Adrian Manor, BCMH, Willow Lane, Cass Regional Hospital, and Medicalodges. She has trained numerous people in the healthcare field over the years.

Cora was a loving, giving, and sometimes ornery person who treasured and loved her family beyond measure. She loved many things in life, but nothing compared to time spent with family. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and “YaYa” was her favorite title. Cora was also a true friend. Often times she would develop close friendships that became like family to her. To know her was to love her, just ask her “soul sister” Cindy.

She often enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, playing video games, watching all types of sports, especially her Kansas City Chiefs. She loved movies, and of course good Rock N Roll.

Cora was preceded in death by her father Gary Smith, maternal grandparents Lee Earnie and Mary V. Doll, paternal grandparents Don and Betty Jean Smith, and by a granddaughter Chloe Wadel.

She is survived by her wife Cathy Smith, daughter, Ashley Trinkle, daughter Shelby Trinkle and life partner Amanda Jackson, stepson Matthew Wadel, and mother Margaret Smith. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Addyson Jean, Liam and Weston, along with a host of extended family members and friends.
