Funeral services for Pauline Gabriel of Butler, Missouri will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2022 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. Visitation 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday, July 7 at the Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler. Contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Heartland Hospice. Orvena Pauline Gabriel, age 93 of Butler, Missouri died Sunday, July 3, 2022 at Medicalodge of Butler. She was born November 19, 1928 to Sina Etna and Ella Leota McGee Hooper in Butler, Missouri.

Pauline, the only daughter and youngest of five children, was born and raised in Bates County, Missouri where she graduated from Butler High School. She worked as a telephone operator in Butler. On September 14, 1946 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Gabriel and to this union, a son and daughter were born. Her memberships included the Methodist Church and Bates County Elks Lodge.

In her role as homemaker, Pauline was giving, caring, hardworking and never turned down a challenge. Enjoyments included fishing, cooking, making brownies, gardening and loving and caring for her grandchildren and dogs. Perhaps her greatest accomplishment was showing quarter horses in halter classes–she excelled and won top honors in 16 different states as well as the American Royal.

Pauline is survived by one son, Kenny L. Gabriel and wife Loretta of Butler, Missouri; one daughter, Renee Edgmon and husband Ed of Butler, Missouri; four grandchildren, Troy Bagby, Joe Bagby and wife Linda, Ryan Gabriel and Cole Gabriel; seven great-grandchildren, Ryan Bagby, Lauren Bagby, Cody Gabriel, Layton Gabriel, Kadi Kelly, Ethan Gabriel and Alayna Gabriel; and scores of stepkids and step-grandkids that she loved. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Gabriel; one grandson, Dub Gabriel; and four brothers, Edgar Hooper, Frosty Hooper, LaVerne Hooper and Dennis Hooper.
